As we all don't live in Florida, and the "Good Luck Florida" thread is rusty now that the season is over, how is it where you are?

For us on the Pacific Coast north of Pigeon Point (San Francisco) are in for a good soaking in the next few days. Below is the ECMWF rain accumulation forecast model for Tues 19th 12pm to Thurs 21st 12 pm and we're looking at about 2 inches of rain locally on the coast, more inland. While I hate to use the term, it appears to be an atmospheric river where the low off Portland will spin for a few days and pummel us.

I'm not immediately on the Oregon Coast, but I'm within that screenshot above so my area could see up to an inch of rain, possible more.

I'm more concerned with the wind causing power issues. Stuff never got completely removed and trimmed after January's ice storm, so this is a recipe for limbs on power lines and streets everywhere.

Currently 62F, on its' overnight way to ~45F, pretty much seasonal for this place. What stands out is that in a city surrounded by large rivers, and rarely lacking for sufficient rainfall (we're more worried about flooding), we broke the all time record for days without rainfall last month. First time we've gone without for rain for a whole month period, ever since records began.

Halfway through the next month, it's only rained one time since. WTaF?

I am 2 miles from the Pacific Ocean, about an hours drive up the coast from LA / Santa Monica.
It is 62ºF, a little breezy, mostly sunny. Top down weather*. I’ve been sitting outside for the last forty-five minutes or so at my favorite coffee shop, surfing Ars and doodling pixels.

It’s starting to get a little chilly at night. Dropping under 50ºF.

We’ve had the first fire of the winter Santa Ana Winds / Fire season. Wonder how many more will kick off over the next few months…

Looks like we’ll catch the edge of the storm this weekend, get a little rain.

0ºC and raining where I am.....and for this time of year that's 10º warmer than normal and it should be snow instead of rain. I suspect I'll be waking up to a centimetre-thick sheet ice on the streets and a fun drive first thing in the morning.
"0C and raining" is not a place I care to live. I'm scared of 0C, even in Fahrenheit.

I was gonna come in and post that it was a balmy 0C where I am.

We haven't had that much rain over here, got lucky and just had a tiny bit before it snowed, so most of the roads are clear. I think we are looking for Thursday to have our nice dumping of snow and fun roads.

We're getting ours tonight. A nice, loose layer of snow on top of a sheet of ice. Just like last year, and the year before that. And then winter settles in to stay...-10C for the next week and dropping according to the forecast.

And just to rub salt in, my family in Taiwan is telling me that it's about 26C in Tainan city right now. Yay.

Global warming will both increase drought severity and flooding. We’ve gone from drought conditions at the beginning of spring to record spring rains and back to drought in half a year. I’m sure there won’t be any negative consequences from this.

Not too cold, 60 this morning in the Chicagoland area, a bit warmer than usual for this time of year. Rain, it's been a light steady downpour for the last few days. Everything is soggy wet, lots of leaves on the ground. Tomato plants still pushing out ripe tomatoes, at least until the first frost of the year hits sometime in December.

Did I say "A nice, loose layer of snow" earlier? Ha, ha, silly UserID! The forecast is now calling for three inches of snow and for it to keep snowing until sometime tomorrow afternoon. And on a nice, thick layer of glare ice. Double yay.

Rain, cold. Lots of wind in the weekendView attachment 96006

As me and my wife state on a daily basis: Buienradar lies! ;)

For the non-Dutch here, its a national weather/rain app that tries to predict whether there will be rain in your area in the next few hours and I have to say, results vary :D

Like a few, slightly north of the image in the OP, in western part of the state of Washington. We're expecting some big winds today.. National Weather Service has the high wind warning between Tuesday - 19 Nov 2024 2PM PST to Wednesday - 20 Nov 2024 4PM PST.

So I'll double check on charging stuff. On the plus side it's not super super big with my area maybe getting 45 mph winds. I think some areas will get a tiny bit higher.. but in the last few years we have been prone to a lot more electrical outages..than say two decades ago where there might be one every few years in my area. But storm frequencies have increased.. so it's been maybe two or three a year. Thankfully our region does what they can, has nice customer reporting options, status web pages maps, and population doesn't actively shoot/threaten electric linesmen trying to fix things.

Stay safe everyone, especially in regards to those lighted intersections turned emergency 4-way stops.

Seasonally cold, dipping below freezing in the early hours, had a light dusting of snow last night. Typically for where I live, that might be it till March, when we might get a second light dusting of snow...
Is that all? We just received our forecasted three inches and the snowfall's just getting started; we're expecting another 24 hours worth of snow before it stops...until Thursday when we're expected to get more. I don't suppose your county's looking for an experienced, slightly frazzled technical greyhair?

Lancashire here. We really do have very mild winters. I might be able to get you a job in a freezing cold warehouse full of stinky food, right next to the factory where they make it? After four years, I don't choke on the stench from across the yard quite so badly now. But then there's that twice yearly thing where they bring a big truck in and suck out the rotten bilge water from the factory drains... you do NOT want to be alive when they are doing that if the wind is blowing the wrong way. I'd say you should enjoy your three inches :)

I'd take it. A few years ago it was slightly colder in my province than it was on Mars. That's not hyperbole, with the windchill it hit around -64C or so. The year before that we got a solid meter of snow in January. And while it's been steadily getting warmer here when it gets cold it doesn't mess around. -30C, -35C easy for weeks on end. I'm getting too old to enjoy the freezing weather anymore.

Indeed. I've been told that before.

The worst thing is that it's so often wrong in ways that seem stupid obvious. That being said, the ECMWF predictions and live weather radar are things they haven't managed to fuck up yet. YET.

BC?

I love spending the winter comparing my temperatures here in Alberta with those of the South Pole (doesn't help that it is their summer, and 24 hours of daylight makes a bit of a difference with warming...). And I'm on another forum where me and a guy from the BC coast like to compare how well the gasoline froze over the night between us, just to watch all the Texas guys lose their mind.

No, not anymore. Having kids necessitated us leaving BC. And I'm neither in Canada (Toronto) or either of Canada's suburbs (Montreal/Vancouver).
