For those not aware, a tool we added after we moved to this forum system is the "thread eject". It's basically a single-thread ban, temporary or permanent. Let's us be much more surgical with moderation actions, no need to fully ban someone having a bad day in a single thread.
We just made some improvements to help them be more clear.
1) The message on ejects stays even after the eject is over. This is great, because it means I can eject someone for say 4 hours to just give them time to chill out while we stop a thread from turning into a pissing match, but when they return the notice to "please play nicely" remains so everyone can see it
2) We've always been able to ban in hour increments, but the old system only showed you a date. So a 4 hour ban looked the same as day ban. We've made it granular
3) The only way to see said date before was a tooltip on the icon of the avatar. That's still there, but the actual eject notice now includes the length of the ban, as well as a time stamp for when it was given. This should add clarity, but also be much more useful on mobile platforms without tooltip access from mouse overs
Thread ejects do not go in your "permanent file". They are simply tools for keeping single threads from getting out of control. We'll see if these improvements help us use them better, the goal is always to make moderation more transparent and more helpful.
