Hey! This is intentional at the moment anyways — the pointer cursor is for links and this is a button. The browser default for buttons is cursor: default but somewhere along the way people decided to start using pointer for everything. I don't think that makes sense personally, so fighting the uphill battle against it to get people to follow the spec 🙂
