more build system updates... now a more flexible hook mechanism is used, so `build-release.os` can be more easily re-used for other projects

Fix for a memory leak, where scope's allocated from the stack were not properly released. I think this might also fix the "failed to allocate from stack" error, which has been seen (for example) with `pkg.transform.hex()`.

add `replaceAll()` method to strings

build is working... I had to use customBuildCallbacks.xml to add some entries to the manifest in each jar file, so they could still be used outside of the eclipse environment too
