Selwyn Birchwood has consistently been a Blues Bytes favorite, so naturally we're going to name his latest Alligator release, Electric Swamp Funkin' Blues this month's Pick Hit. The album title tells you everything you need to know about the music.

The latest compilation by Bob Corritore & Friends, Ernestine Blues, might be the best yet in this series. In addition to featuring artists like Willie Buck, Sugaray Rayford, Bob Stroger, Oscar Wilson, and more, this month's Surprise pick also becomes a showcase for the wonderful Chicago singer Carla Denise.

This month's Flashback covers a compilation, True Blues, Vol. 1, featuring plenty of downhome blues from Alvin Youngblood Hart, Corey Harris, Guy Davis, Taj Mahal, Shemekia Copeland, and Phil Wiggins.
