Everyone should get a passport. You never know if you ever need to travel in an emergency. In addition if Republicans do impose stricter voter ID laws you’ll be ready for it.
But I would very strongly recommend getting the larger passport in addition to the card because the card doesn’t let you do as much as the passport book.

I totally agree with this post. We don’t need violence or a civil war. I really believe peacefully organizing and changing the minds of voters can make a big difference. We can win the midterms big in 2026. We first reach out to undecided voters and then flip them to blue and keep building momentum such that by the time it’s November Democrats will flip so many seats.

I hope people cancel their Amazon Prime subscriptions in masses and even better switch away from AWS. AWS is how Amazon really gets their money.

If we keep fighting enough we can do this in the US too

I wonder if some of those people involved in this worked a second shift to help get Trump elected. I believe China does have pro-Trump bots just like Russia does.

Wikipedia says:
The Witchcraft Act 1735 (9 Geo. 2. c. 5) was an act of the Parliament of Great Britain in 1735 which made it a crime for a person to claim that any human being had magical powers or was guilty of practising witchcraft. With this, the law abolished the hunting and executions of witches in Great Britain. The maximum penalty set out by the act was a year’s imprisonment.
It thus marks the end point of the witch trials in the Early Modern period for Great Britain and the beginning of the “modern legal history of witchcraft”, repealing the earlier Witchcraft Acts which were originally based in an intolerance toward practitioners of magic but became mired in contested Christian doctrine and superstitious witch-phobia.
So likely actually she got charged for claiming she has magical powers since the law says that it’s a crime for a person (which I assuming includes yourself) to claim that someone has magical powers.

The only thing people should be giving up is their Amazon Prime subscriptions and AWS hosting. You’re very likely getting ripped off and overcharged if you use AWS. Also although I recommend ordering from other websites if you have no choice but to use Amazon you don’t need Prime for free shipping, just wait until you have enough stuff in your cart such that you’re over the free shipping threshold. Don’t order unnecessary stuff to get over the threshold.

This is good but no matter what I don’t think Google should have such a monopoly over the web.

Solution: cancel your Amazon Prime subscription. Remember that Bezos also funded Trump’s inauguration and he ruined the Washington Post.

Almost certainly it will be a thing but it will be more difficult than past midterms. In the meantime we got to keep fighting and doing everything we can to tank Trump’s popularity (things such as talking to people who don’t follow politics much) because the less popular Trump is and the less support the more likely people will refuse the risk of rigging/stopping the election.

People can absolutely unionize in the USA. I think joining a union is a great idea and everyone possible should do it. We have to take it one step at a time. Increasing the percentage of people in unions is a good first step.

It’s not possible to “doxx” ICE agents. They are not secret agents, they are people who we the taxpayers paid for and their names are either public record or if they are not public record really ought to be.

I hope everyone will leave Reddit and go to Lemmy or Piefed. If you still have a Reddit account might as well say fuck it and start promoting Lemmy/Piefed until you get banned.

Good point, I updated the title.

I really hope the stadiums are totally empty. We must not repeat the mistakes of the 1936 Olympics. Boycott the world cup and also boycott all their sponsors and advertisers and demand they pull their ads and stop funding FIFA which is a totally corrupt organization.

For what it’s worth I read the whole thing in what felt like one or two minutes and I don’t think I’m a particularly fast reader. I think it looks longer because there are not many blank lines. It seems well written but I guess I do slightly get that AI feeling too, it just might be because he/she is a good writer so now people think good writing is AI, sad it’s coming down to this.

People should try reading more books and watch less TV/streaming precisely for this reason. Also maybe if you want to watch a movie consider watching older movies.
This is a fascinating article/podcast that talks about this but is focused on how it impacts your attention span and has data: https://www.apa.org/news/podcasts/speaking-of-psychology/attention-spans
Mark: So I was very surprised to learn that TV and film shot lengths have decreased over the years. They started out much longer. They now average about four seconds a shot length. That’s on average. If you watch MTV music videos, they’re much shorter. They’re only a couple of seconds. So we’ve become accustomed to seeing very fast shot lengths when we look at TV and film. Even commercials have shortened in length. Commercials used to be much longer. Now it’s not uncommon to see six-second commercials, even shorter than that. Now it’s a chicken and egg question. We don’t know if TV and film have affected our attention spans on computers and phones. We don’t know if our attention spans have affected the decision-making of film editors and directors. We don’t know exactly if there is any causal connection we see these two parallel trends.
It could be the case that directors and editors are influenced by their own short attention spans when they create these film shots or it could be that they’re creating short film shots because they think that’s what the viewer wants to see. But this has become quite ubiquitous. In fact, on YouTube, there’s a particular YouTube aesthetic which uses jump cuts. So when you’re watching a YouTube film, the film becomes very jumpy. The natural pauses that people make when they speak it is removed. So the idea is to pack more content into a shorter amount of time. So we’re seeing short lengths of content from all directions. It’s not just what we’re attending to on computers and phones.

I totally agree with you. I literally made my username “BoycottTwitter” because it’s so important and so basic.
Where was the “embarrassment” when they had the world cup in Russia in 2018 and when they had it in Qatar? Ultimately embarrassment ought to result in action but I’m not sure it will here.
