Hygienist Services

A dental hygienist is a specialised healthcare professional with a primary focus on providing thorough and effective dental cleanings to promote optimal oral health. Tasked with the critical responsibility of preventing and managing oral diseases, dental hygienists are integral members of the dental care team.

One of the primary duties of a dental hygienist is performing dental cleanings, also known as prophylaxis. During this procedure, they meticulously remove plaque, tartar, and stains from the surfaces of teeth. Using specialised tools, such as scalers and polishers, they work to eliminate bacterial buildup and prevent the progression of dental issues.

Airflow therapy is a new dental cleaning technology that uses warm water, compressed air, and a bacteria-fighting compound called erythritol.

I moved to the UK with my family when I was almost 4 years old. I spent my formative years growing up in Essex, so if people ask me where I’m from I say, ‘Iraq via Essex’. Since university I’ve lived in London except for short stints in Aylesbury, Birmingham and Sydney! Outside the world of orthodontics, I can be found curled up reading a good book, at the gym – love a good spin class!  or watching a tacky reality show like Dubai bling!

If I wasn’t an orthodontist, I would be a travel blogger, there is an exciting and diverse world to explore! My favourite part of my role is the interaction with patients and watching their confidence develop as their smile transforms. Over my 20 years in orthodontics, I have treated many interesting and complex cases ranging from all ages. However, over the past few years I have really enjoyed treating ‘open bite‘cases with aligners. The results can be dramatic and spectacular.

As a specialist orthodontist, I offer a wide range of orthodontic treatments, tailoring each appliance to suit my patients specific needs. I have a particular interest in complex clear aligner (Invisalign) treatment for both children and adults, aiming to make the treatment journey positive and relaxed while achieving excellent results. Building strong relationships with my patients is important to me, especially since orthodontic treatment can span 18-24 months!

I graduated from Trinity College Dublin with first-class honors, receiving a gold medal and becoming a scholar of the university for my clinical and academic excellence. My specialist training at Queen Mary University of London was highlighted by the David DiBiase prize, recognising the high standard of orthodontic treatment I provide.

Beyond the world of orthodontics, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, whether it’s brunch outings or hosting dinners. Traveling is a passion of mine, and I will make any excuse to jet off on holiday. On weekends, you’ll often find me at the golf driving range or challenging myself at my local CrossFit gym.

About:

After graduating from Dentistry at Aimshams University in Egypt in 2010, my journey in dentistry took me through various specialties until I discovered my passion for Orthodontics. This led me to pursue a rigorous three-year specialized training program at Cairo University, culminating in my graduation in 2016. Additionally, in 2017, I earned the prestigious Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Edinburgh.

What excites me most about my profession is witnessing the incredible journey of smile transformation that my patients undergo throughout their treatment. I take pride in utilizing a diverse range of Orthodontic appliances, including Clear Aligner treatment, Fixed Metal or Clear Braces, as well as various fixed and removable appliances, tailored to each individual’s needs. Dedicated to staying at the forefront of my field, I actively engage in continuing education through participation in Orthodontics conferences and symposiums. As a member of esteemed organizations such as the American Association of Orthodontics, European Aligner Society, World Federation of Orthodontics, and Egyptian Orthodontic Society, I remain committed to delivering the highest standard of care to my patients. Beyond the clinic, I find joy in spending time with friends, exploring new destinations, and immersing myself in different cultures through travel.
