J. on Algebraic and Discrete Methods"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[1980,3]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>In a class of symmetric N-person games we consider the behavior, for large N, of the symmetric equilibrium. In the game each player independently chooses one of M alternatives; the payoff is a decreasing function of the number of players choosing the same alternative. Asymptotic approximations for the equilibrium strategy and payoff are obtained. A number of examples are treated in detail. We also consider the maximin strategy of a single player against $N - 1$ minimizing opponents.
