## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Twitch Top Games & Categories Scraper + Steam Deals Ranker

Find the **best Steam deals right now** — ranked by real value (discount × review score × player activity), not just discount % — and the **hottest Twitch categories** ranked by live viewer heat. Clean JSON, no proxies, no Steam API key.

### Modes

**`deals`** — scans current Steam specials and ranks them by a value score combining discount %, review score, and live player counts. Filters: `min_discount`, `min_review`, `count` (up to 100 specials scanned). Use it for: deals newsletters and sites, Discord/Telegram deal bots, price-tracking dashboards, affiliate content.

**`twitch-hype`** — ranks top Twitch categories by current viewer heat (needs a free Twitch app credential from dev.twitch.tv: `twitch_client_id` + `twitch_client_secret`). Use it for: streamer research (what to stream), games-marketing timing, trend dashboards.

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| mode | string | deals | `deals` or `twitch-hype` |
| min\_discount | integer | 0 | deals: minimum discount % |
| min\_review | integer | 0 | deals: minimum review score |
| count | integer | 50 | deals: specials to scan (max 100) |
| limit | integer | 10 | twitch-hype: categories to rank (max 25) |
| twitch\_client\_id | string | — | twitch-hype only (free) |
| twitch\_client\_secret | string | — | twitch-hype only (free) |

### Example output (deals)

```json
{
  "appid": 12345,
  "name": "…",
  "discount_percent": 75,
  "price_final": "$4.99",
  "review_score": 89,
  "current_players": 3512,
  "value_score": 0.87,
  "store_url": "https://store.steampowered.com/app/12345"
}
```

### Why this actor

- **Value ranking, not discount spam** — a 90%-off dead game ranks below a 60%-off hit with 20k live players.
- **No keys for Steam, no proxies** — live data with short caching; the free Twitch credential is only needed for hype mode.
- **Same engine as the GameDataKit x402 API** (api.borisinc.com) used by AI agents — this Store listing is the card-billed version.

### Common recipes

- **Deal bot:** schedule `deals` hourly with `min_discount: 50, min_review: 80`; post new entries to Discord/Telegram.
- **What-to-stream:** run `twitch-hype` daily; cross-reference rising categories against `deals` for content timing.

Actively maintained — issues and feature requests welcome on the actor page.
