## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Easy IndexNow — Bulk Submit URLs to Search Engines

> ⭐ **Bookmark this actor** so pinging search engines after every deploy or content update is one click away.

Instantly tell **Bing, Yandex, Seznam and Naver** that your pages changed, using the **[IndexNow](https://www.indexnow.org/)** protocol — so they re-crawl fast instead of waiting days. Bulk-submit up to **10,000 URLs per run**, automatically grouped by host. Pure HTTP, no browser.

No IndexNow key yet? Leave the key blank and the actor **generates one for you** plus the exact file + location to host — then re-run.

### How it works

1. **Get a key** — pass your IndexNow `key`, or run once with no key to have one generated.
2. **Host the key file** — put the key string in a text file at `https://yourdomain.com/{key}.txt` (the actor prints the exact URL).
3. **Submit** — pass your `urls` + `key`; the actor groups them by host and pings IndexNow once per host.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `urls` | array | URLs to submit (up to 10,000; missing scheme defaults to `https://`) |
| `key` | string | Your IndexNow key (leave empty to auto-generate one + hosting steps) |
| `keyLocation` | string | Optional: full URL of your key file (defaults to `https://{host}/{key}.txt`) |
| `searchEngine` | enum | `indexnow` (generic, shared with all engines), `bing`, or `yandex` |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "https://example.com/new-article",
    "https://example.com/updated-page"
  ],
  "key": "a1b2c3d4e5f6a1b2c3d4e5f6a1b2c3d4"
}
```

### Output

One record per host:

```json
{
  "host": "example.com",
  "submitted_count": 2,
  "status": 200,
  "ok": true,
  "message": "OK — URLs submitted and accepted.",
  "endpoint": "https://api.indexnow.org/indexnow",
  "key_location": "https://example.com/a1b2c3d4e5f6a1b2c3d4e5f6a1b2c3d4.txt"
}
```

### Use cases

- **After every deploy** — notify search engines of new/changed pages immediately.
- **Site migrations** — push your full new-URL list so engines pick up the move fast.
- **E-commerce** — ping price/stock-driven page updates at scale.
- **Publishers** — get fresh articles crawled within minutes, not days.

### Pricing

Pay-per-event: **$0.0002 per URL successfully submitted** ($0.20 per 1,000 URLs). Failed submissions (bad key, wrong host) are **not** charged. Up to 10,000 URLs per run.

### Next steps

- **Need the URL list?** Pull every URL from your sitemap with **[Sitemap URL Extractor](https://apify.com/dltik/sitemap-url-extractor)**, then submit it here.
- **AI search readiness?** Check whether ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity can read your pages with **[GEO Site Audit](https://apify.com/dltik/geo-site-audit)**.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

New or updated URLs to notify search engines about (missing scheme defaults to https://). Up to 10,000 per run.

## `key` (type: `string`):

Your IndexNow key. Leave empty to have the actor generate one and tell you where to host it, then re-run with the key.

## `keyLocation` (type: `string`):

Full URL of your hosted key file. Defaults to https://{host}/{key}.txt for each submitted host.

## `searchEngine` (type: `string`):

Which IndexNow endpoint to submit to. The generic endpoint shares the ping with all participating engines.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "https://example.com/page-1",
    "https://example.com/page-2"
  ],
  "searchEngine": "indexnow"
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

IndexNow submission result per host.
