## Pricing

from $0.20 / 1,000 results

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Companies House UK Bulk Company Records Scraper

Import bounded UK company identity, status, incorporation, registered-office, SIC, and provenance records from the official Companies House Free Company Data Product. Use it for directory seeding, market mapping, portfolio screening, SIC analysis, and reproducible monthly snapshots without a Companies House API key.

This community Actor is unofficial and is not affiliated with Companies House or the UK government.

### Operations

- `records`: import rows from one official monthly snapshot part. Choose `sourceMode=latest_part` with `partNumber`, or provide an explicit HTTPS `sourceUrl` on `download.companieshouse.gov.uk`.

```json
{"operation":"records","sourceMode":"latest_part","partNumber":1,"maxItems":100}
```

### Company record

Each row contains `company_number`, `company_name`, snapshot `company_status`, `incorporation_date`, structured `registered_office_address`, locality/postcode, `sic_codes`, detailed SIC descriptions, a direct `source_url`, retrieval time, and exact snapshot/file/row provenance.

This is a monthly bulk snapshot, not a live company lookup. Status and address can change after the snapshot date. Use `source_url` or an authenticated Companies House API separately when a current live check is required. Company numbers are strings and must not be converted to numbers.

### Output

The dataset contains company records. `OUTPUT` contains the selected snapshot date, source URL, part information, and emitted row count. Downloads and results are bounded by `maxDownloadBytes` and `maxItems`; arbitrary hosts are rejected.

# Actor input Schema

## `operation` (type: `string`):

Bulk records is the supported no-key workflow.

## `sourceMode` (type: `string`):

Use the latest official split snapshot part or an explicit official Companies House ZIP/CSV URL.

## `partNumber` (type: `integer`):

Part number to use when sourceMode is latest\_part. The Actor discovers the current total part count from Companies House.

## `sourceUrl` (type: `string`):

Optional explicit HTTPS URL under download.companieshouse.gov.uk. Required only for sourceMode=url.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum non-blank company records to save to the default dataset.

## `maxDownloadBytes` (type: `integer`):

Safety cap for the selected ZIP/CSV download. Current split files are below the default cap.

## `requestTimeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Timeout for each official Companies House HTTP request.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "operation": "records",
  "sourceMode": "latest_part",
  "partNumber": 1,
  "maxItems": 100,
  "maxDownloadBytes": 100000000,
  "requestTimeoutSecs": 60
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

Normalized company rows from the selected official snapshot part.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Selected snapshot, part information, source URL, and emitted row count.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("dromb/companies-house-uk").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
