## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## GitHub Push Events Scraper

Extracts detailed GitHub push events and their associated commit data for any public repository. This Actor allows you to monitor repository activity, track user contributions, or gather data for analysis by specifying a date range.

The scraper is designed for performance and a great user experience:

- **⚡️ Direct & Fresh**: Your stream begins in about a minute, fetching data directly from the source.
- **📡 Continuous Live Feed**: Progressively fetches data as the stream runs, ideal for continuous monitoring.
- **🔧 Customizable Output**: Select only the fields you need in the output.

### Input Parameters

The Actor requires the following input:

| Field        | Type           | Description                                                                                                                |
| ------------ | -------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `start_date` | Date | **Required.** The first date to scrape data from, in `YYYY-MM-DD` format. |
| `end_date` | Date | **Optional.** The last date to scrape data from. If left blank, data will be scraped up to the most recent available hour. |
| `fields` | Checkbox Group | **Optional.** Select the fields you want to include in the output. By default, all fields are selected. |

### Output Data

The Actor returns a dataset of GitHub push events. Each item in the dataset is a JSON object containing the fields you selected.

Here is an example of a single output record with all fields selected:

```json
{
  "PushId": 1234567890,
  "PushTimeStamp": "2025-07-28T10:30:00Z",
  "CommitMessage": "feat: Implement new user authentication flow",
  "CommitUrl": "https://github.com/user/repo/commit/a1b2c3d4e5f6",
  "CommitAuthorName": "Jane Doe",
  "CommitEmail": "jane.doe@example.com",
  "UserLogin": "janedoe",
  "UserEmail": "jane.doe@users.noreply.github.com",
  "UserUrl": "https://github.com/janedoe",
  "RepoUrl": "https://github.com/user/repo"
}
```
