## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

## Filmow Scraper

Apify Actor for scraping [Filmow.com](https://filmow.com), Brazil's largest film and TV social network. Uses CheerioCrawler for fast, efficient HTML parsing with JSON-LD extraction from detail pages.

### Features

- Search movies by keyword on Filmow's search engine
- Extract ratings from Filmow's aggregate rating system (0.5-5 stars)
- Two modes: quick search results or full detail scraping
- Detail mode extracts: original title, cast with character names, genres, synopsis, duration, country, content rating
- JSON-LD Movie schema extraction for structured data
- Automatic pagination across all search result pages

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
|-------|------|---------|-------------|
| `searchQueries` | string\[] | `["Batman"]` | Movie names or keywords to search |
| `maxListings` | integer | `100` | Max movies per query (0=unlimited) |
| `scrapeDetails` | boolean | `true` | Visit detail pages for full info |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | `{}` | Proxy settings (optional) |

#### Example Input

```json
{
    "searchQueries": ["Batman", "Matrix", "Tarantino"],
    "maxListings": 50,
    "scrapeDetails": true
}
```

### Output

#### Search-only mode (`scrapeDetails: false`)

```json
{
    "title": "Batman: O Cavaleiro das Trevas - Parte 1",
    "year": 2012,
    "director": "Jay Oliva",
    "rating": 4.2,
    "posterUrl": "https://media.fstatic.com/...",
    "filmowId": "57868",
    "url": "https://filmow.com/batman-o-cavaleiro-das-trevas-parte-1-t57868/",
    "searchQuery": "Batman",
    "scrapedAt": "2026-04-25T12:00:00.000Z"
}
```

#### Detail mode (`scrapeDetails: true`)

```json
{
    "title": "Batman: O Cavaleiro das Trevas - Parte 1",
    "originalTitle": "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns - Part 1",
    "year": 2012,
    "rating": 4.2,
    "ratingCount": 7738,
    "bestRating": 5,
    "worstRating": 0.5,
    "genre": "Acao, Animacao, Drama, Ficcao Cientifica, Misterio, Super-heroi",
    "director": "Jay Oliva",
    "cast": [
        "Ariel Winter (Carrie Kelley / Robin (voz))",
        "David Selby (Comissario Gordon (voz))",
        "Peter Weller (Bruce Wayne / Batman (voz))"
    ],
    "duration": 76,
    "country": "Estados Unidos da America",
    "description": "Dez anos apos sua aposentadoria Batman se encontra...",
    "contentRating": "12 - Nao recomendado para menores de 12 anos",
    "releaseDate": "6 Set. 2012",
    "posterUrl": "https://media.fstatic.com/...",
    "filmowId": "57868",
    "url": "https://filmow.com/batman-o-cavaleiro-das-trevas-parte-1-t57868/",
    "searchQuery": "Batman",
    "scrapedAt": "2026-04-25T12:00:00.000Z"
}
```

### How It Works

1. Builds search URLs for each query on `filmow.com/buscar/`
2. Parses search results from `div.search-result-item.movie` elements (~20 per page)
3. Discovers total pages from pagination and enqueues remaining pages
4. Optionally visits each movie's detail page for rich data extraction
5. Detail pages are parsed via JSON-LD `Movie` schema with HTML fallback for cast, genres, duration, and country

# Actor input Schema

## `searchQueries` (type: `array`):

List of movie names or keywords to search for on Filmow (e.g., 'Batman', 'Matrix', 'Tarantino'). Each query produces a separate set of results.

## `maxListings` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of movies to scrape per search query (0 = unlimited). Each search page returns ~20 results.

## `scrapeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

If enabled, visits each movie's detail page to extract full information including cast, genres, synopsis, duration, country, and rating count. Disable for faster search-only results.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Proxy settings for avoiding rate limits. Filmow uses Cloudflare but generally does not block scrapers.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "searchQueries": [
    "Batman"
  ],
  "maxListings": 100,
  "scrapeDetails": true,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
