## What's an Apify Actor?

Actors are web data automations that power AI and operations. They run on the Apify platform to scrape websites, process data, connect APIs, and automate workflows.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.
Actors are written with capital "A".

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.
The best way to integrate Actors is as follows.

- **AI agents and MCP clients** — the [Apify MCP server](https://docs.apify.com/integrations/mcp.md) at `https://mcp.apify.com` (remote, streamable HTTP, OAuth on first use).
- **Agentic workflows and local Actor development** — [Agent Skills](https://apify.com/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json) with the [Apify CLI](https://docs.apify.com/cli/docs.md): `npm install -g apify-cli`, then `apify login`.
- **JavaScript/TypeScript projects** — the official [JS/TS client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md): `npm install apify-client`.
- **Python projects** — the official [Python client](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md): `pip install apify-client`.
- **Any other language** — the [REST API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2.md).

For usage examples, see the [API](#api) section below.

# README

## Singapore MAS Financial Institutions

Look up MAS-regulated financial institutions live in the official Monetary Authority of Singapore Financial Institutions Directory (`eservices.mas.gov.sg/fid`). Built for analysts, researchers, fintech builders and AI agents.

> **Live lookup:** every row is parsed from the MAS FID on each run — licence types, regulated activities, address, contact and key personnel. Four optional fields (`aum_sgd_billion`, `parent_company`, `business_focus`, `inception_year`) come from a curated overlay and are labelled `enrichment_source: "curated"`; they are `null` when there is no curated match.

### 📊 What you get

Clean JSON, one record per institution (full output has 19 fields):

- `aum_sgd_billion` — Aum sgd billion
- `business_focus` — Business focus
- `data_source` — Source of the data
- `enrichment_source` — Enrichment source
- `fid_detail_url` — Fid detail url
- `fid_slug` — Fid slug
- `headquarters_country` — Headquarters country
- `inception_year` — Inception year
- `incorporation` — Incorporation
- `institution_name` — Institution name
  Records include a `data_source` field.

**Pricing:** $0.05 per institution record (Pay-Per-Event) — about **20 institutions per $1**. Actor start is charged separately by the platform at $0.01 per GB of run memory.

Only live MAS rows are delivered and charged. If MAS matches nothing, the run succeeds with 0 rows and a message; if the directory cannot be reached, the run fails loudly instead of returning an empty dataset.

### 🤖 Use with AI agents

Structured JSON built for LLM and agent pipelines — point Claude, the OpenAI Agents SDK, an n8n flow or any MCP-aware client at it and pull MAS-regulated financial institutions in Singapore on demand.

**Sample agent prompt:**

```
Find MAS-licensed fund managers and return their licence type and status.
```

**Agentic payments (x402):** Supports agentic payment via x402 — agents can call this actor with USDC, no API key required.

### ⏰ Run on a schedule

This is a monitoring play — schedule a recurring pull:

```json
{
  "term": "DBS",
  "fetch_details": true,
  "limit": 10
}
```

# Actor input Schema

## `term` (type: `string`):

Live keyword search against the official MAS Financial Institutions Directory (eservices.mas.gov.sg/fid). Matches institution name, licence type, or regulated activity. Case-insensitive. Examples: 'DBS', 'OCBC', 'Standard Chartered', 'fund management', 'payment', 'insurance broker'. Combine with 'sector' to narrow, or use 'sector' alone to list a whole category.

## `sector` (type: `string`):

Live MAS FID sector filter. Lists every MAS-regulated institution in the chosen sector (paginated). Use alone (empty term) to enumerate a category, or with 'term' to narrow. Common values: 'Banking', 'Insurance', 'Capital Markets', 'Payments', 'Financial Advisers', 'Trust Companies', 'Money-Changing and Remittance'. Leave empty to search across all sectors via 'term'.

## `fetch_details` (type: `boolean`):

When true (default), the actor fetches each institution's live MAS FID detail page to extract granular licence types, regulated activities, key personnel, incorporation note, and full contact/address. When false, it returns the lighter search-card data only (name, category labels, website, phone, address) — faster and uses fewer requests.

## `headquarters_country` (type: `string`):

Optional filter by the parent group's home country. NOTE: country is NOT published on the MAS FID page; it comes from the curated enrichment overlay, so this filter only applies to institutions present in the curated table (major banks/CMS/insurers) and will drop live results that are not in it. Leave empty to return all live results. Examples: 'Singapore', 'United States', 'United Kingdom', 'Switzerland', 'China'.

## `regulatory_status` (type: `string`):

The live MAS FID lists currently-licensed institutions, which the actor reports as 'Active'. Kept for backward compatibility: 'ALL' (default) returns every live result. Selecting SUSPENDED or REVOKED will return no rows, because MAS does not publish those states in this directory.

## `limit` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap on total institutions returned in this run (1-2000). Each institution is one dataset row, charged at the per-result price. The MAS FID covers ~5,000 licensed financial institutions across all sectors. With fetch\_details=true each row also fetches a detail page, so large limits take longer.
