Apple Arcade Game of the Year

What the Clash drops you into ludicrously goofy, never-before-seen competitions that’ll keep you laughing – and guessing what might come next.
– App Store Editors

Tennis with floppy fish. Air hockey in a blizzard. Nothing is out of bounds in the ridiculous mini-games of What the Clash – and in an inspired twist, the developers at Triband give you a hand in creating them.

Familiar games get reimagined in all sorts of hilarious ways.

In these competitive matches, you and your opponent play wild cards to transform table tennis, racing and other familiar contests into madcap mash-ups. Tweak an archery match with the Giraffe and Wind cards, for instance, and you’ll be target-shooting atop giraffe heads, with fans blowing arrows all over the place.

Hundreds of combinations emerge as you unlock more cards – and simple one-finger controls make playing a snap. Whether you’re aiming a bubble in a match-puzzler or turning conveyor belts to guide food to cats, every mini-game is designed to be picked up and played without much fuss, no matter how strange the concept is.

And there’s always something new to discover here. A deluge of bonkers ideas, What the Clash feels boundless in possibility and hilarity. Speed-milking a cow? Circus tag? Racing in mine carts with bears tossing explosives? These are questions this nonstop charmer answers with an emphatic why not?

Quick tip

Don’t skip the daily challenges scattered around the lobby. Finishing these will net you loads of experience points and inch you closer to unlocking your next modifier or new customisation options.

Fun fact

Some of the odd characters you’ll meet in the lobby, like Clash Handicoot and Super Marius, are named after the stars of classic games.

Meet the creator

What the Clash is Copenhagen-based developer Triband’s largest game ever – it took them two years to create. It’s also their third game on Apple Arcade, following What the Golf and What the Car.
