It’s been a little over a year since I made Naelynn (October 9th, 2023), and her ref was a little bare bones and made quickly so I put in the work to make her a new ref that covered more details, streamlined a few features, and also actually finalized her details for the pattern on her back. Also made her daily outfit a bit nicer/more intentional. About 27 hours of work.
Exactly a month from now is my birthday, and I’ll be turning 40 and that’s such a weird thought.
I remember the big deal it was when my mother turned 40, I would have been 9, approaching 10, at the time.
but it doesn’t even feel like it’s been that long, I can’t even say that I feel ‘old’ Granted I know well that I still have another 40+ years ahead of me, but still.
I guess good to be mindful of how short things really are in the grand scheme of things.
The purpose is more for community interaction than just art sharing. I’d like it to be a place for people to share fan works, discuss comic updates, create/share fan characters, and for me to host little events in addition to the occasional community-only lore drop.
My friend, doctorgitgud had a new NPC for Mossberg, Marfoir, that he had an idea for so I pestered him for the description and drew it. (it was going to be a sketch but I liked it too much and cleaned it up anyway)
Been too long since I drew her so sketch page, not been drawing enough in general. The sketch on the left in her robe, IDK I think someone bothered her at home. Ertakar body language note: Thumping tail on the ground is a common sign of irritation/anger.
Just some Naelynn sketches. Trying more expressions. Also she’s Having a Time. Working through some old wounds and how they relate to new discoveries. All very context-dependent stuff. Also her Tier 1 gear which she’s about to get tier 2 stuff very soon lol.
With only a few hours left, I finally got this done before Halloween ends (in my time zone). Naelynn dressed up as Eido from Destiny 2. Even though this wouldn’t be anything ‘canon’ (since that character/reference wouldn’t exist in the setting) I still kinda made a vague background to the setting she’s in. Supposed to be some sort of luminous spores dropping from the ceiling to set to mood.
A digital sketch page this time. Messing with a pencil textured brush to do my sketching in. Some naelynn thing both for fun and based on events and also requests from Doc lol. Also a sleepy Drakko in the right corner there and a dark mysterious figure the party ran into that Naelynn gave a fruit to and rolled a nat 20 on persuasion. (both Drakko and the big guy belong to DoctorGitGud )
A little scene of something that takes place before the comic Ibrida, to a memory that Talon keeps close to her. A year before her mother’s death, a year before her entire life was entirely uprooted.
A time when herself, her mother Tlakanok, and her godmother Xiktali all worked together to help her build a clubhouse for her and her friends. The last time the three of them were together, taking part in something she was passionate about. Even with what she’s lost, she keeps these memories close to her, to hold the value of their importance in her life and what they meant to her, no matter what happens.
