Absolutely every song on this album is great. Relaxing, engaging, beautiful to listen to. Toure's guitar is the epitome of what made me love Malian music. I like how it's mixed hard to the left to emphasize the tone and his performance in general. Incredibly well-recorded and produced. DJ's drumming is CRISPY. A tremendous tribute to Vieux's father and a real keeper in its own right. Absolutely everyone likes this album when I put it on.

Any time is a good time to blob

Are the synths the blob? Is the clarinet the blob? Is everyone a blob?

Blobbing great little time. Knowing the theme and inspiration makes these even more fun to listen to. Which track is which blob? This is by far one of my favorites of the year and I'm doubly happy to know what a personal musical gift this is.

The definitive Toro y Moi album, imo

Some tracks are stone grooves, others are strange atmospheres, others come from some offworld android hipster jazz lounge.

I have read about Steve wanting to create music that can just run on a loop to create a certain mood and space within a room - this is definitely one of those tracks. It sounds like drifting through a warm, starlight-dappled sea. If there could be a "warm ambient" companion to "dark ambient," it would be like this. I love having this one on the stereo filling my house in the dark at the end of the day. Or on my headphones when I can only manage to pretend to work.

I first heard this on a WEFUNK Radio show. Kind of like Dam Funk with more funk. I just wish most of the tracks were twice as long.
