not a relaxing reading piece, but worth reading anyway
it's a book focusing more on the aftermath of six people living as "hibakusha", the explosion-affected people.
the recounting of the day the bomb was dropped was sometimes disturbingly detailed from the perspective of the six hibakusha. the image of kimono's patterns permanently inscribed on the backs of the victims because of the extreme heat wave and radiation still haunts me.
but more than that, i think john hersey tried his best in convincing readers to view this nightmare with compassion without the interference of politics and other elements.
