Actually, this bluestripe garter snake (Thamnophis sirtalis similus) wasn't blue, she was incredibly angry. I don't blame her at all -- I very rudely reached into the weeds and snatched her up to photograph her, and she was most displeased. She let me know of her displeasure by biting me. Repeatedly. But wow was she gorgeous, and worth every drop of lost blood! She was caught in Gainesville, Florida, in Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, and she was released after our photo and biting session.
