I have to get back to DF. I played it like a mad person during my time as a student, scribbling mad construction ideas during classes. Instantly bought the game on steam but barely played it since. Not having a 100% keyboard doesn’t help but the reality is I just have to get creative and program it to make it possible to play DF with it… And now I want to play Factorio again :(

Act 1 is the hardest hands down. I lose most of my runs there, almost never lose a run after act 1.

This year I try to stop this. Went 2 months without buying a single game. I have an absurd amount of games and the list of games i actually want to play is so large it would still take years to complete.

I can’t remember if I ever bought a NES game but I know I bought the SNES with turtles in time with my own allowance money when I was like 8 or 9. First PC games was Theme park and Transport tycoon deluxe bought at the same time.

Same happend to me. I just made the swap file really big. Haven’t had the problem since. It was 4gb default, tried 16, was better and now on 32gb it is all good. I have 32gb ram.

Playing Zelda tears of the Kingdom with my son, slay the spire 2 with my friends (and some solo) and dark age of Camelot with random people. Good times.

Didn’t they do some really “creative” stuff like building the ship longer than the spawn point of the astroids or something? Of course that wasn’t intended but it also meant that it got fixed?

This is what i donated to my SO and she is happily gaming on it every now and then. It may be old but it is still good.

Yeah. First time installing battlenet and d4 through it the game just vanished. Second time it did work. This other game I am trying to install never keeps the files. It is weird. I should give it a try on CachyOS that I have a dualboot too.

Maybe I am not explaining good enough. When things fail for me I always try to just install through steam because that always seem to work. HOWEVER when installing another launcher throught steam this problem seems to appear. On the other hand this also appear if I install it with any other launcher (lutris, heroic or just wine).

Everything in steam works as it should be. What fails are standalone games, but not all of them.

Taking the bus. Just sitting and being able to have my thoughts for myself. Also walking.

Computer games but I really need to play less digital games and more analog games instead. Both have an enormous backlog but at least I have stopped buying more… Digital games.

My last run was over 300 hours… But you are right. I haven’t really picked it up again since.

I am playing something really old. Dark age of Camelot. Got some IRC friends who got me into this (again) because they were talking about them playing it again on a free server.

This game does MMO so good. This was the peak before WoW changed the market (to worse). The game design in DAoC is genuinely unique. There are almost no instant stuff. No global cooldown. Melee skill speeds are based on the weapon as you apply styles on the swings. Some of the abilities need you to hit from a certain direction and they have follow ups. You have 9(!!) second stuns and 40 seconds mesmerizes (kind of like sleep) so even small groups can kill larger groups in PvP. If you play a caster and get hit in combat, well… there goes your spell to nothing. Spellcasters are strong but once in melee you are pretty much screwed.

You really have to group up to level since regen is so slow and you get xp bonuses from doing this and also able to take down harder mobs giving more xp up to a cap. When pulling, depending on group size the mobs do “baf” (bring a friend). Afaik not many games does this today. It is such an easy thing to bring people together. Make it harder to solo play, give bonuses from teamwork. Make people talk to eachother.

Everything is just… Awesome. Except the slow movement without movement buffs.

Wish my friends would like to play more games like this. With that said it is best played in short bursts for sure.

I bought some expensive ram back when i bought my current CPU to maximize Factorio and that was about 200 €. Don’t even want to know how much it would be today. Also cheaped out and bought 16Gb ram for my home automation server last summer for less than 50€. Regrets hits me now as more would totally be better.

Did a long trip on a train once and did just this. Started the trip late in the day, woke up almost at the destination. Was great!
