yup, such a reddit take to auto-downvote without even providing any information or discussion, one that I actively try to push back against.

truth will die if there is no independent archive.

Yeah but we are seeing the opposite of that right now with Netflix raising their base rates, short term promotions are what new users get these days.
Cell phone plans, software, other subscription services have definitely kept user rates locked in despite rising base rates.

when you bundle Apple’s reasonably good privacy protections (reasonably) they do have a compelling case for switching, although if you have a pixel and care about privacy I believe you should be putting Graphene on it.

I miss the days when companies would grandfather your price in, so price hikes only effected new users… Now days everyone pays.

yeah I got a bit lazy there, at 55 inches you are at $604
When you go to 65 though its $1004 so pretty big jump.
Oddly enough going from 65 to 75 is only another ~375 USD (1377)
To me the best deal seems like 50 or 55 inches, although your room size and seating positions are likely the most important.
Also interesting if you’re in the USA Best Buy does have some non-smart TVs and even a filter for it, although its mostly no-name brands or Samsung.

he was so pissy cause the inside of his helmet was just ads for pharmaceuticals he couldn’t afford.

Honestly under 60 inches not too bad

or using like 4g/5g network for ads for free, sucking up all the data bandwidth from smartphone users so they can make sure we got our daily ad dosage!

Nah I don’t bait, I’m a real person but from another country so the Guardian is not a news source I grew up with, except when they had an article that filtered its way down, which was uncommon. Mostly only ever saw it on Reddit or other places, and it is often disparaged when posted, or at least it used to be, so I was asking what the general consensus was on the paper.
I also thought it was interesting to note that in the USA it is typically disparaged and viewed poorly, or presented poorly, to people, probably do to its left of center alignment, which in the USA would be considered farrrr left (sad I know).
Either way, I think that downvoting discourse unless someone says something that is really obviously a troll (3.50, cumbox, creepypasta, just being an asshole), is a dumb thing to do. It is a hallmark of my experience on reddit and I thought this was a place where real discourse could happen.
I believe that calling out poor practices with upvote/downvote is a way to consider what kind of culture we have here, and want to build, as the community expands.
I came from original Digg to Reddit now to Piefed, so I have watched the ways the culture has grown and expanded on these communities, in the past I just watched and said nothing. This time I feel compelled to be a part of the discussion because I watched both Reddit and Digg go to shit.

Your answer was golden my friend, nothing wrong with the language you used, thank you for it! I would not have guessed you did not speak English natively.

not disappointed, but downvote brigades on actual discussion were a serious problem on reddit, I would hate to see it carry over here, you can discuss something even if you disagree. You shouldn’t downvote good faith discussion or questions, but maybe we fundamentally disagree on the point of up/down voting.
If you don’t come to read the discourse, why come to the comments my friend?

Sample size of “over 1 thousand”, feels meaningfully meaningless.

Dang, was asking a question and discussing the way it has been presented to me and got buried, great discussion guys! Feeling like I’m back at home at Reddit :)

Is the Guardian mainstream? I thought it was often derided as being fringe or a tabloid in the UK (this also may of been an effort to misinform, as I typically find myself agreeing with their articles, or at the least the ones I am presented with)
For managed democracy.
Kind of hits different written under this image…

I run into that problem too on CyberGhost, I wonder if my settings are not fully optimized as I tried to go for security over openeness due to my limited knowledge… Sometimes a torrent will have up to 10 seeders but will still stall out / fail, I always thought that was due to those seeders having limited bandwidth and being queued up for hundreds of other downloads before they get to mine, but now I wonder if its my settings… Either way I would rather optimize for security, but I wish I could get some rare stuff sometimes that has few seeders.

Shit I rarely make it above 1:1 even if I seed 24/7 for a while, I wonder if I need to work on my settings.

What happens if you are torrenting via Mullvad?
also people paint “complain about downvotes” with a broad brush, wondering why you were downvoted or discussing the reasoning, can easily be painted as “complaining” especially from someone who says they “automatically downvote” (not a lot of nuance in an automatic decision).
