Back in the days of my university studies I started noticing that a non-negligible number of scientific books got creative in their dedication page.
Some were just humorous; some played with the topic of the book in clever way; a few were moving; others just plain eccentric.
In an age of bland, cookie-cutter acceptance speeches and xeroxed acknowledgement posts on LinkedIn, it is refreshing to enjoy these small, quirky acts of freedom and intelligent rebellion.
Gratitude, is a virtue worth cultivating with authenticity, for the betterment both of who feels it and receives it.
So here I collected a few, both those I still remember twenty years after first seeing them, and some freshly unearthed looking around (also outside of academia).
I will be grateful for suggestions of further, similarly delicious dedications to include.
These few pages are dedicated to my cat Stella, who did her best to variously disrupt my efforts while I worked on it.
