Sigh
When will there be a different reason

4·11 days agoHmmm, I’m a bit rusty on this but can’t one put an auth gate in front of the application, handled by the reverse proxy?
I’m confused. What’s the difference between mastodon and other such platforms mentioned in this thread? I thought these mastodon like platforms were the equivalent of twitter on the fediverse

Oh I miss Tom and Jerry. It’s so old but dare I say the animation goes toe to toe with modern stuff, if not better. Or maybe I’m just nostalgic
It’s a beautiful movie! One of my favourites of all time

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How to get good at tying knots/ropes as a beginner? Should I buy a book, watch youtube videos, or join some type of outdoorsman club?English

Linux@programming.dev•Systemd’s New Feature Brings Age Verification Option to LinuxEnglish
2·23 days agoI quite like the init and journal parts of systemd. I’m not a hater. But I’ve been around long enough to see where this attestation road might lead to. Google tried it recently with their WEI initiative.
But now the time is ripe again with child safety being mentioned left and right. This is all speculative but combine secure boot ,and kernel level attestation and suddenly one must use verified applications which among other things can’t block ads and whatnot

I relate very much with the first half. For me, even the non flying ones seem to immobilise me. But I really don’t understand how you find them adorable. I mean I totally understand that they’re a very important piece of the ecosystem, but holy shit does my body stop working when I see one
