It’s super funny that I assumed that was Matt Damon, holy shit.
Yikes. Is this Matt Damon in The Odyssey? The casting in that movie is atrocious.
For me this is the most frustrating thing about being autistic. I care about things way too much, and it’s debilitating. I wish I could be apathetic because it’s absolutely an essential trait to have in the insane times we find ourselves in.
The news is downright traumatizing and has been for years. It’s destroying my health. Of course the fact that I’m seeing this shit on the news instead of being bombed myself means I’m quite privileged.

13·7 days agoThe USDA recently changed the rules around PFAs added to food so that the company no longer needs to disclose the fact that PFAs were used, so this law is absolutely needed.
But… it becomes law in 2035? They can poison us as much as they want to for the next 9 years?

121·7 days agoI block every comm which might post these rapists faces because I am a victim of rape and child abuse. Their faces triggers me. If people are posting them to comms which have rules against it then the entire system breaks down.
There are specific comms for these posts, so the better question is, why do you post shit in places that have rules against that content?

Edit: I misinterpreted the comment I was responding to. They were referring to OP talking about the ethics of reading Harry Potter while bullying a stranger. That is absolutely ironic.

727·13 days agoMaking fun of a stranger’s appearance by taking a photo of them without their consent is fucking shitty.
I have this issue. I think my brain is protecting me though, so I don’t mind. It’s just incredible to be living a life where my accumulated trauma means I struggle to pay back the predatory student loans that I apparently signed up for that got me a degree I can’t use and barely remember studying for.
My 20’s and most of my 30’s are a blur.

2·13 days ago…Hasan Piker is a coward? Lol, okay. He’s a lot of things, and not all of them are great, but he’s certainly not a coward. People who watch him are quite sure he’s going to be shot some day. Piker is aware that the alt right is trying to make him a target of violence.
How often do you publicly challenge AIPAC?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•I think Jon Stewart and John Oliver should promote socialism without even saying socialism.
5·14 days agoI couldn’t have said it better myself. I think Stewart has a positive effect on politics overall, even if he does drive me nuts occasionally. People shouldn’t put him on a pedestal, but similarly they shouldn’t call him full neoliberal.
Shit’s nuanced.
…these posts come from platforms that use algorithms. That’s my entire point. Way to miss the fucking point. If you don’t want to see posts coming from “anything that uses an algo” then block posters who post content from those platforms.
You’ve proved my point so well, thanks.
I’m not, you are. You’re spending your free time (and mine) complaining about something an algorithm is causing.
YOU are giving into them. I am advocating for us to STOP wasting our time with this shit. If this “censorship” bothers you so much just block the people who post it.
It’s not even censorship. Algorithms on popular platforms use image reading software to detect certain words, and then downgrade posts in the algorithm which contains those words. This image had a few pixels out of place to stop the image reader from detecting that word. That’s it. You’re bitching and moaning to a person who posts thousands of posts they get from other platforms.
If you actually cared, you’d find out who is posting these on those platforms and complain to them.
You’re not being helpful in the slightest. The person who posted this on the original platform will never see your shit.
I didn’t even notice the censorship until I saw your obnoxious comment. You’re the problem.

news@lemmings.world•UN seeking answers from US about deadly strike on Iranian school that killed over 175 peopleEnglish
4·21 days agoPeople need to go to prison for this. The idea of zero consequences for this travesty is just… heinous.
It was on purpose. It was a “double tap” strike designed to maximize casualties, and they’ve hit more schools since the first one. These facts disprove any notion that this was an accident, or an AI’s fault.

Thanks! I like strange names and I like it when cats are named after other species, so this was a great fit. I have a friend who named their cat Goose.
