That reminds me. My family used to have a reentry vehicle Christmas ornament that would play audio from the Apollo missions and light up the cabin. Super cool

News@lemmy.world•Trump shares 'vicious', uncensored footage of woman being killed
8·3 days agoWhen I was a freshman in highschool me and a friend had to dig through the trenches of the internet to watch an old man get beat to death with a hammer in the woods. Morbid curiosity got the better of us and as a result the 2 guys 1 hammer video fucked me up for a while, but at least we had to dig around in little known websites to watch it. Now, kids are undoubtedly getting served videos like that through the president’s own social posts.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Barbers of Lemmy, when do you want me to keep my head still and when do you want me to look down?
4·5 days agoNah, it was just a joke mostly. Usually we’re yappin’ about something entirely different so when I need to look down he just shoves my head down lol, but there’s also times when he’s cutting the back of my head that I go to look down and he pulls my head back up.

World News@lemmy.world•Pope says Trump's threat to destroy Iranian civilization is 'truly unacceptable'English
11·5 days agoSimilarly iran government supported russia by providing shaheed drones doens’t justify usa/israel bombing in iran and killing innocent civilians
Yeah, no shit Sherlock. That’s not the argument. The point of contention was the claim that Iran doesn’t kill foreign civilians.

58·5 days agoUhhh…what? They absolutely are. Have you missed the whole Ukrainian war thing? Still nothing justifies genocide and this is all to placate a war hungry megalomaniac with pedophilic obsessions. But Iran has undeniably contributed heavily to Ukrainian civilian deaths via Shahed drone production.

3·10 days agoThey’re right though. Its not gambling. They’re just investing time and influence to get guaranteed returns. So for them its moreso investing than gambling like it would be for us. I’m just not morally bankrupt enough to buy into a prediction market that my country’s military is going to drop bombs on children before Thursday next week.

104·10 days agoCan I ask why people still use dedicated email software? I’m sure there’s a reason. Maybe just familiarity, but I’ve never once opened my email inbox from anything other than a browser. It seems like a royal PITA.

1·10 days agoSame. I actually built my first computer a year before prices went super saiyan but it sounds like you got an even better deal. My system is:
- Intel 14100 - $98
- 2×16 DDR4 Corsair 3200 - $57
- Asrock B660 - $98
- Corsair 80+ bronze PSU - $70
- 500GB Crucial SSD - $37
- Seagate 28TB HHD - $368
So $728 plus a cheapo case. Today it would be $1171 just casually picking the same parts from eBay, Amazon, and Newegg. That’s a 160% jump.

4·11 days agoFair enough. Good catch but at the least, what should/could have been a period of substantial growth in USPS revenue from 2006-2022 ended up being a period of time which has substantially crippled their operations.
