Love or hate just please explain why. This isn’t my area of expertise so I’d love to hear your opinions, especially if you’re particularly well versed or involved. If you have any literature, studies or websites let me know.

By all rights, this should be something I am deeply passionate about. I’ve been in tech/engineering my entire adult life and was obsessed with NASA as a kid. I even live on the east coast of Florida and can sometimes see the launches/landings over the ocean. But I just… don’t care at all. I’m not suffering from depression or any other malaise, and generally things are fine. But I haven’t clicked on a single link or looked at a single image. I know this has not been the case for many, many people, so I’m wondering what might be different about this launch (or really the whole program in general), and curious if anyone else has found themselves feeling the same.

I try to give the most grace possible. I’ve only ever blocked two users here. That said, I’d totally understand why someone might block me.

And also why do you like it, what is it saying?

And what disadvantages? Like pricing or licensing terms?

So I grew up very sheltered and isolated from society and as a result missed out on a lot of pop culture and other common things. I love to read, and I really enjoy fantasy and DnD and those types of things and I’m trying to find and catch up on the great fantasy books/series that every fantasy lover/nerd should know. I’m not as interested in sci-fi, but I’m willing to read the “great” ones too. What would you recommend?

I do. Most stations in my region are just crappy music and dumb call-in shows, but there’s still a few stations with quality programming. FM radio is where I get my news, where I listen to press conferences, old-school audio theatre and (surprisingly) where I get new music recommendations. Hard to believe that modern streaming platforms’ algorithms can be outperformed by traditional media.

I’ve heard that it’s relating to the currency itself: it has stabilized since 2022 yet no updates on adjusting the price (as it was last updated back when PLN was weak), hence making games more expensive than usual when you take into account what an average salary a Polish person earns per month.

Yes, I know they’re scummy as fuck. Yes I know they’re gonna turn it into yet another overpriced rental. But I’m mostly asking if they’re otherwise legit.

I’m looking for sites that offer free instances of self hosted apps.

Inspired by a fediverse post that was appraranly marked by Piefed as “AI” and I didn’t see it cuz I’m using Lemmy… so I had no idea…

For example, have you ever come across a piece of stock music that actually slapped the face off ya? Or a stock image that could easily make it onto your wall in a mahogany frame if it wasn’t for the Shutterstock watermark?

Obviously, the internet has always been a toxic place, (the phrase “flame war” has been around for decades,) but it seems to have gotten so much worse over the last few years. I used to think decentralization of the internet would fix the worst of it, but Lemmy seems to have gotten worse alongside the rest of internet culture, proving me wrong. How do we fix/improve this culture of toxicity?

Okay I don’t have friends to ask…, but I have relatives and a lot of my parents’ friend circle and a lot of them apparantly own their homes… and apparantly there are a few that even own rental properties…

For those of you who eat tuna spread sandwiches, you may know that portioning the amount of spread is… Variable… And sometimes messy. It depends on the bread type, thickness, toast level, etc., as well as the spread’s qualities, AND what you’re feeling like.

In the earliest days of my internet experience, I remember being able to do a web search for a phone number and sometimes actually find something useful. That said, this niche has long been dominated by some of the fakest, most scammy, bullshit sites on the web. From calling themselves “free” when they are not, to the fake “searching”, “sifting through results”, “correlating records” wait screens that are much like the deceptive, manipulative, and nontransparent airline industry, to the mentally manipulative exclamation point in the red warning triangle to tease you that there might be criminal records.

I’d say high rise iron workers seem the coolest. Think back to that black and white picture everyone has seen of the two guys sitting on a beam hundreds of feet up eating lunch.

I heard that the reason why music identifiers don’t work offline is because their databases are huge, with millions of songs (including video game music). Databases containing only video game music may be significantly smaller, even if they contain the soundtracks of over 1000 games.

I feel like crap all the time, and I’m running out of curt answers.

Our local university is known for it’s historical music program, and they put on a production of the opera Alcina by Handel. It was sublime, and a treat to see a baroque opera performed in a smaller theater.

So, Lemmy has become my main squeeze, like reddit used to be. Ive been here for a few years now, and the only thing i really miss from the bad place, is RES (Reddit Enhancement Suite). Mainly, the expando of media like pictures, gifs, and embedded videos. I think that’s what RES called it? The little icon you could click to get a full, inline view of the media.

I exported mine and searched for “http”. I got 1,882. Crazy. I only use about 20 regularly.

Curious how people here approach the FCL/LCL decision, especially when volume sits right in the grey zone around 10–20 CBM. My general rule has been to go FCL above 15 CBM but I’ve been reconsidering lately — especially on lanes where CFS operations at destination are efficient enough that LCL doesn’t add much delay. A few things that have shifted my thinking : The destination port infrastructure matters more than people give it credit for. On well-managed ports, LCL can be surprisingly competitive even at volumes where FCL would seem like the obvious choice. Also the freight forwarder’s consolidation network on the ground makes a huge difference. A good local partner can offset a lot of the traditional LCL disadvantages. I haven’t had a TV in my bedroom in over 20 years. I had an ex who always wanted it on all the time, even to sleep to, and it drove me crazy.

I’ve been searching for it all over the internet, and just can’t find any information about it. I remember there being news stories about it, and how it’s going to change everything, and now I can’t find a single mention of it on the internet. What gives? Does anyone have any info about it?

We had a wonder “food hall” move into our area recently and I try to buy/support local and all that but it does seem appealing. Right off the bat I feel like id have issues with it but dont specifically have anything to point to really aside from that its sort of a ghost kitchen. Should I give it a shot or continue avoiding it?

Just things in periods of time where at first, you didn’t care about it but then comparing to the way things are now, to then, you soften a little to where you kinda wished that you got a little more involved on.

Despite Scotland being considered as part of the United Kingdom, they print their own currency which issued by the Bank of Scotland (but the confusing part is that there’s no separate currency code for Scottish Pounds) and the fact it is “legal currency” but not officially legal tender (even in Scotland itself), it’s weird.
