Here's my latest composition, "Sydue". It's a piece for piano, drums, improvised bass, and the sound of 'my' sea -- the Adriatic. Here I play my Pro-Session microbass. Not very comfortable 'cause frets are too close. But I like its sound. Better listened to with headphones.

Having extended one section a little to make room for text I had inadvertently skipped, I am now where I thought I was a month ago on this composition: all the words are set, and all the vocal parts (choral and solo) are done, so the essential melodies and harmonies are all there. There’s an unbroken long line from the introduction through the first main part, one rosary decade.
Huh. I’d been puzzling over what to do about a section in this piece I’m composing that seems disproportionately short, (40 seconds of fast music in the middle of a 20-minute piece is kind-of anomalous) and coming up with creative ways to make that work in my favor. Just stretching it out is not an attractive solution because the whole piece does not need to get any longer; this is all just the first part of something that may end up being around 90 minutes.1/2@composers #composing
Today I would like to offer you a piece for piano, marimba, percussion, tenor saxes, and bass guitars, which I entitled パラゴン ("Paragon"). The title of the piece comes from the "JAZZ & Home-roasted Coffee Paragon", a jazz café in Ichikikushikino City, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. All bass guitar tracks are played by me on my Fender Jazz Bass V. No effects were used or applied.

A thing that keeps happening with this large piece I'm #composing: From time to time, to go forward, I need to zoom out, think about the large scale plan, and decide what harmonies, events and points of arrival I'm aiming for. So I dig out my background sketches... and discover that I already came up with a very good plan last time I did this.
