I like this thread. It pays to keep looking at what you are using critically. Nothing is perfect or stable but some things are improving and some things are getting worse.
My own curse is that macOS really pisses me off on a daily basis. This week we have:
1. macOS 15.4.1 broke file save boxes in some 3rd party toolkit I use (wx) for stuff leading to software I need to use for something time critical failing. I can't roll back 15.4.1 without doing a complete restore so I had to dig out a spare PC and run the software on that. This is the third time they've broken something inside their APIs which has affected third party software badly.
2. My old Logitech MX master 3 mouse gave up finally so I had to buy another mouse quickly. Got a G305. Had to feck around with Mos and SaneSideButtons to get it to even play nice and be usable.
3. Trying to rip a new CD. Won't rip on my superdrive for some reason. However it does on the space PC with EAC fine.
4. Airdrop just doesn't work the entire of yesterday.
5. I did something in Numbers and it's not at all portable to anything else.
On top of this it utterly scares me how tied I am to the Apple ecosystem. If my account was to get hosed I'd be, to use a technical term, ****ed. Going back around 10-12 years everything I had was standalone and entirely portable with no risks like that at all. And I haven't gained much for the privilege of handing over the control and keys for it.
As for Apple support, it isn't really that great. It depends wholly on luck like most organisations. You're better off having full redundancy on hardware and software if you have to rely on it.
I am thinking about my situation carefully at the moment.
