Additionally I see that you've got a pull request open for the LW radiation. I think this may be useful: https://doi.org/10.1002/qj.4176 (the paper calculates clear-sky downwelling LW flux for the surface but I suspect that it would be fairly easy to implement for individual model levels given the air temperature, humidity and pressure). I've implemented the calculations for the surface in python and it takes only 10ish lines.
