github.io hosted pages are not accessible in Kazakhstan by local providers.

Hello, I've noticed that yesterday any page hosted at GitHub Pages host are not accessible anymore from Kazakhstan or any local providers. I've checked with two local providers and couldn't open any subdomain under github.io. It does, however, work with VPN enabled. Anything we could expect from GH support?

There haven’t been any known changes on GitHub’s side that would affect Pages accessibility, so this may be related to local ISPs or regional restrictions.

To help confirm, please try running:

dig pages.github.io

and share the result - it can help understand whether your provider is blocking or misrouting the domain.

@mecodeatlas pages.github.io seems to be accessible via HTTP (returns 404), but not via HTTPS (hangs).

Hello everyone,

Today I received a response from my provider, Meganet. They informed me that the .io domain in question is currently blocked in Kazakhstan. However, I have searched through public news media and could not find any official information or confirmation of such a block.

If anyone else has seen credible coverage of this issue (in Kazakh media) or can confirm from an independent source I would appreciate hearing it.

Today, github.io sites started working on the AlmaTV(which means on all Kazakhtelecom) provider.

I’ve regained access to GitHub Pages today. I’m not really sure what solved the problem, mostly like there was country ban on subdomain resources or something, but it’s working now.
