wait, there's *more*?

It's super important to credit any resources I use, no matter how 'small'. Every resource or tutorial has been someone's hard work, and I try to credit, link, and mention those people whenever I can. The credits linked in this popup box are only resources I've used on the glenthemes main page. For a more detailed credits list, visit: glenthemes.tumblr.com/credits. For a list of credits I've used in a particular theme, you can find them linked in that theme's post.

Glenthemes banner, including their logo, name, the tagline “Designer, developer, & occasional artist”, and their social media handles for Tumblr, Instagram, and Twitter.
Landscape banner that reads "10 years of glenthemes" stylized in all uppercase in brush fonts, adorned with a pair of overlapping heart sketches on the right, one hollow and one filled. The text sits above an aerial view of a walking person and their shadow.ALT
Haikyuu screenshot of Oikawa Tooru yelling "Thank you for the last 10 years" like his life depends on it. The original text was "thank you for the last three years"; the word "three" has been replaced with "10".ALT

Ten years ago today on July 16th 2015, I created glenthemes. Just to be clear: I’m NOT saying goodbye. You’re all stuck in here with me. This is a look-back on my journey, the good, the bad, the ugly, and how I ended up where I am now. This short journal is mostly written in chronological order; if you’d like to skip to the parts you’re interested in, here’s the overview in which the the titles sound suspiciously like episode names:

  • humble beginnings
  • how I learned to code
  • glenthemes was problematic 💅
  • glenthemes logo
  • paid themes & pages
  • landing internships
  • Discord community
  • powerpoint guides
  • college & hackathon
  • featured on Tumblr’s “Getting Started” page
  • tumblr changes / mobile & NPF era
  • design style & branding
  • “the friends we made along the way”
  • what’s next?

Screenshot preview of the theme "Reducks" by glenthemes — a minimal theme with single columned posts and a right sidebar. An outlined title named "Reducks" appears before the first post and adorns a solid text shadow. Each post has a wavy pattern at the top mimicking pond waves, and 4 yellow ducks float atop the waves with a subtle dipping/bobbing animation. The sidebar consists of 3 boxes; the first holds a transparent cutout image of a duck followed by a blog description and 4 navlinks beneath it. The second box consists of 4 custom links, each with a custom duck image. The third box holds a searchbar, which can be expanded to include up to 5 custom search suggestions. Reducks has a warm, light yellow color scheme.ALT
A closer preview of the "Reducks" theme on a narrow screen (mobile view) with label text that reads "desktop & mobile friendly". The posts and sidebar columns combine into a single column, with the sidebar contents appearing first. All boxes except for the main/description are hidden, and can be viewed by toggling a button that reads "view more info".ALT
Screenshot samples of the duck images that appear throughout the theme, with label text that reads "custom images option". The first screenshot captures the 4 ducks resting on the waves at the tops of posts, while the second screenshot captures the ducks at the start of each custom link.ALT
