Shatter the slipper. Spit out the apple. Fall for The Beast.

All-star linebacker Cole Hawthorne is a beast on the field, destroying offenses one broken quarterback at a time. Though he’s a gifted athlete, his violent reputation makes him a liability to his team and a villain in the league.

So, it’s up to me to tame the beast.

But the closer I get to the ferocious monster, the harder I fall for the passionate man underneath. He’s crude and charming. Tough and sweet. Dangerous…but even he can’t resist my baby’s giggle.

Denying my feelings might protect my heart, but the trading deadline is closing in. When Cole reveals the dirty truth about the trade, I can’t let the league rip us apart.

Do I save my career…or do I protect a man who deserves a happily ever after?

Maybe no one can love a beast…
But they haven’t met Cole Hawthorne.

5 ”Coool” STARS

”Cole Hawthorne – The League’s Dirtiest Player?”

Combine elements from my favorite Disney movie with a linebacker who is referred to as “The Beast” on the field and a fantastic heroine with her sixteen month old daughter and this made for a win-win read for me. I had a blast reading this story. I loved the characters, the writing and thought the author did a stellar job. Though the story isn’t necessarily epic per say, I can’t think of anything I would add or eliminate and so this story gets a 5 Star rating from me.

Piper Madison has taken a job at her father’s sport’s agency and has been given the task of getting the dirtiest player in the league, Cole Hawthorne to agree to a trade or she will lose her job.

”Cole Hawthorne was a beast. A monster. A huge, lumbering slab of muscle and rage. And he was the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on.”

description

Getting Cole to agree to a trade is a task that is so much harder than she ever realized.

”All I needed was a signed consent form that state he agreed to be traded. One quick signature, and I could be gone, back home…”

description

The interactions and chemistry between Piper and Cole was fantastically written and once her daughter Rose enters the picture the level of adorable is added to the mix.

”Christ. Three days ago I broke a man’s back. In what universe did Piper think it was a good idea to bring a baby to me? I couldn’t be trusted around anything that required a soft touch. My body…wasn’t capable of gentleness.”

description

Cole finds himself caring for Piper and little Rose more with each day that passes still his fears get the best of him but have no fear Rose and Piper worm their way into his heart and a readers even with all the walls Cole puts up.

”After all the shit I did in my life, all the isolation and violence, aggression and rage, the last thing I deserved was a princess, her baby, and the fairytale. I wasn’t her happily ever after. Even if she was the only one who might have tamed this beast.”

description

It also must be mentioned that the sex scenes were scorching hot as well.

”Fuck, beautiful. I want to destroy you as much as I want to worship you. You have no idea what you do to me.”

description

Cole must learn to trust in his feelings and in himself to have the ending Piper and Rose deserve. The story was enjoyable from start to finish and I wouldn’t change a thing and thus making this one good read. It should be mentioned that this is available on Kindle Unlimited and includes two other full length books by this author to boot!

”Make you own happily ever after.”

First half is funny. Second half is a melodramatic snooze fest that..

description

First Half

description

Beautiful single mom trying to get a beast football player to sign a trade agreement. She won't take no for an answer on a trade. He won't say yes to a trade. He's afraid to give her beast-mode. She wants his beast-mode. She proceeds to wreck his house. Enter her toddler with lots of funny and sweet moments. Dish a side of her asshole father.

She's a persistent, sassy, and funny chick...

"I raised my chin and faked some confidence. Usually I could get tough enough to dissuade a toddler from licking electrical outlets, but I hoped I could pull off authority against an egotistical , alpha-male, bastard jock."

Despite being an ass, he's a nice guy...

"I did it because that baby gave me a piece of banana."

Their back and forth is funny. His thoughts & interactions concerning the kid are funny. The baby proofing is funny. It's sweet to see a beast turn into a teddy bear for a kid.

And then the second half starts...

Second Half

It all goes to hell. Gone is the funny. The cute is too sparse to GAF. Enter the melodrama, troupe, and tripe.

Beast

I get it already. OMG "beast" is used 73 times and "monster" 38 times over less than 250 pages. Enough. Move on. Too much analysis and over-play of the beauty and beast theme.

Sex

The first sex scene is horrible:

• he treats her like all OW he went beast-mode with in bed.

• they go to separate rooms acting like nothing changed between them.

• no protection used for what both consider a one-off. Unreal considering she's already had one life-altering one night stand that landed her pregnant w/ a baby she struggles to support.

• too much telling, too much focus on thinking and analyzing what's going on, and too much grey prose on the technicalities of "beast-mode fucking." It's not a thesis kind'a event, authors!

Second sex scene is almost as bad. He leaves angry and felling kicked because his feelings are hurt that she likes beast-mode fucking .. As if she only wants his dick now. GMAFB.

description

Melodrama

Melodrama becomes the play of the day.

description

He's angry constantly over the standard line: "I'm not good enough for you." Meanwhile, she tries to both pacify, redirect, reassure, and coddle him all at the same time. Basically, she's ... I love and accept your beast -to- don't be an angry beast. He responds by getting angrier and feeling even more like he's not good enough.

description

He pushes her away. She chases after him. She goes to him after EVERY. SINGLE. TIME & tries to talk, pled, and reassure.

description

The final hurrah is him telling her he doesn't want her & leaving.

She goes chasing after his ass yet again confessing...

description

I'm all about fighting for your man, but damn. This chick needs realize what that smell is surrounding her character..

description

Anyway..

How sweet. Her begging for love works this time!!! Why this time works since nothing new is said from the last dozen chapters of begging and him opening the door ready to send her away? Who the fuck knows?!?!

I'm just glad it's over.

No Payday For Any AssHoles

Clearly, the asshole MMC never grovels once because she's too busy chasing him.

But...

What about the asshole baby daddy's fate.. The dude who sees his kid once in the course of the book and leaves her in a dirty diaper all day as he snorts coke?

description

Oh, that's nice. Thanks for the info.

But...

What about her asshole dad... The dude who called her a "whore,"embarrassed her, belittled her, fired her, and treated her and her baby like unwanted garbage?

You'd think this...

description

Maybe this...

description

No! No! No! It's all about...

description

Because he did not really mean any of it.

description

Epilogue

By this point...

description

So, yeah, whop't'do there's a HEA.

Bottom Line

Sadly, this once funny book was taken over by the BS in the second half.

Also, the blurb is misleading on some points. For example, at no point in this book did she consider throwing her career /job away for him. There was no choice between him and her job at any point.

This is a biracial romance. That should be in the blurb!

The 2 stars are purely for the laughs in the first half.

RATING: 2.5/3 stars to Beauty and the Blitz ★ ★ ★

‘His home was one briar patch short of a fairy tale villain’s lair. No Happily Ever Afters here. If anything, his fortress was the castle the princess escaped at the beginning of her Once Upon A Time. And I was the village fool, pounding on the door to get inside.’

‘Instead, he lurked inside the shadows of a mansion more cursed than enchanted.’

How can a beauty fight for a beast when he doesn’t fight for himself?
To be or not to be? To love or not to love? To wait for a prince or yield to a beast?
Who says fairytales are partial to fantasy…

Piper Madison’s livelihood shifted once her daughter was born. She didn’t visualise her life with a toddler on her hip, giving up her academic dreams and working for her hard-nosed, unsupportive and uncharitable father. Now with an ultimatum on her hands that has her face-to-face and door-to-door with the Atwood Monarchs’ linebacker Cole ‘The Beast’ Hawthorne who is just as withdrawn as the mirthless mansion he lives in, Piper is tasked with trading this prickly, elusive beast, his place, position and hostile reputation no longer protected by his team.

Hot-blooded, uncompromising, always primed to resist, always ready for combat, Cole has worn out the league’s welcome. A beast on the field, one who basks in the name of the game and glories in the pure thrill of the sport. But he’s earned himself an inflammatory reputation in the industry. A threat to his teammates, an aggressor and a danger to the sport. It’s a task for the mighty to get this unreasonable linebacker to deal in the currency of reason…But behind every barbed beast is perhaps a lonely man who believes the worst of himself.

Try as he might to best his nature, this big unfriendly giant comes primed with sharp teeth and an urge to conquer. Such is what you can expect from a brutish man with a frigid heart.
Rage at his core, raging at the world, he’s a man carved from solitude, honed by wrath, a man with no love to harbour. Beauty and her baby might be the only ones to smooth over the spindly hackles of a beast motivated by his aptness for destruction.

I really liked the style of Beauty and the Blitz . A character-driven story, it’s interesting and it kept me leafing through the pages. I’ve not read many fairytale retellings, at least not in the contemporary romance genre, so this? It was a very nice surprise. It’s told with a kind of succinct, nimble sentence structure which, to begin with, Is quite effective. Further into the story though? I wasn’t too sure…

I don’t mind a lot of dialogue (which does make up a good portion of the story), but, for me, the story wasn’t open to enough narrative exploration. We get bits and pieces of Piper’s past but only narrowed down to explanations of how Rose changed the direction of her life and Piper’s dad’s place in it. We’re handed even less with Cole’s past…like he’s emotionally untouchable. I felt that I wasn’t allowed to know him. It makes sense and it’s in keeping with his character’s temperament, but I wanted to learn more about Cole Hawthorne the man.

As always I’m something of a taskmaster for details, details I think this story could use more of. Why is Cole the way he is, specifically? Has he always been like this? What changed? What provoked his lifestyle? Cole grew up emotionally detached because of his apparently abusive upbringing but there aren't any deeper conversations about this. He’s not a man prone to talking about emotions or to deal in affirmations of love but for connections to form we need emotional vulnerability to act as a vestigial glue, and for that, open conversations are a great way to get there…or perhaps I’m just a nosy parker with an unstoppable need to fit rather snugly in the hearts of all characters :D

Aside from this, fleshing out is also an issue. I really do like my stories with fleshed out ins and outs, expressive consideration for the different areas of a story, specifics, particulars and at times this story doesn’t flesh out the specifics and physicality of a scene. In this sense I think the technical parts of a scene could use some brushing up...

There’s not a lot of background for this story to sit on, but still, it does set an engaging pace, presenting a fresh, crisp and firm story. I did actually like this kind of fast-paced sentence structure, but I also didn’t like it because I felt that the story was fast-tracking through, to fly without thought to reach the end. Skipping and skimming what would otherwise have given this story more thickness, more orbit, more breadth. There are some stories that aren’t refined enough, but I think this story was perhaps refined too much? Perhaps this is more about personal preference because I like my reads to be more rounded.

But let’s talk about Piper too. Her dreams vanished when Rose was born, and then her baby became her biggest one. She loved literature and was never happy being an agent. It was a profession of necessity, but in the epilogue she’s still an agent with no makings of pursuing academic success. What about her dreams of academia? This one example where the story doesn't really go into or open up explanations. It also doesn’t explore Cole’s base rage and how he continues to handle it.

Usually it bothers me when one character, typically the female protagonist, does the chasing…throughout the entire book. It bothers me because a two-way force of action is what stacks the relationship blocks; the back and forth of denial, understanding, acceptance, and THE light bulb moment when everything falls into place. Inciting motivations from both characters to move forward together, especially from that one archetypal character so influenced by fear that they deny a potential life with love in it…and then for that character to find their ‘boombox’ moment, realising what matters. Such is the structure of many romance reads!

I was conflicted that It was Piper who took the final call for action because I really thought for the ending to work, Cole needed to chase her. I was a bit let down. But then I thought, sometimes it’s not about that. There are instances where a person, despite what blessings sit at their feet or enter their lives, can’t easily overcome that first-nature fear or ingrained perceptions of suffering...Sometimes they need to be fought for, need to feel that they’re worth fighting for. And I’m glad Cole started to see that at the end.

Beauty and the Blitz is an interracial sports romance that brings a stand-off between an intellectual beauty and her bestial beast. All the best laid plans call for revision when the unexpected comes to play. A time to reconsider a new play for the playbook in this enemies-to-lovers sports romance. A beast who’ll lose himself to his beauty or his bane. Cole, our beast, Piper, our beauty, and Rosie our adorable baby are the focus of this character-driven story. I loved the bouncing repartee between Cole and Piper, it was intelligent, sharp-witted and lively. Piper is just great - a competent, affectionate mother, a hard-worker, just a lovely, sensible woman all-around. I can’t blame Cole for acquiescing to little baby Rose, I was on the best side of ensnared by her too.

A modern day beauty and the beast retelling. A retelling of a beauty who ensnares a beast and a baby who lulls him with her own lovable magic.

Trigger Warning: A few sex scenes, profanity and mentions of drug addictions.

-----------------------------------------
A few odds and ends to clear up…

★ As far as technical mistakes, there were some editing issues; added and misplaced words, missing words and missing letters from words. As well as this, sometimes the sentences were a bit hard to deduce because they were vague which twisted the narrative meaning.

★ I’m also certain that Piper and Cole consistently have unprotected sex. This was really confusing because it didn’t make sense. There’s no mention of protection, only that Piper keeps the contraceptive pill in her purse. But still, during the actual sex scenes there’s no mention of a condom being used or a pill being taken after which I found really odd seeing as it was quite thoughtless if we’re taking Piper’s current mother status into account. Piper already has a baby and it changed the course of her life completely. There are no conversations about having children or commitment so it would beg the case that being safe was a necessity. Well…Apparently not with these two. There are no conversations about safe sex or using protection either. They both just get down to it, bare and ready. Aside from that, the sex scenes themselves were a bit underwhelming.

This was just an OK read for me.

I found Cole to be a little too OTT assholish most of the time. Oh he had his moments (mostly with Rose) but I just kept thinking that if he would have just dialed the asshole down a couple notches he wouldn't have had so many problems with his team, league, coaches.

Piper was an OK heroine, but I thought their back and forth arguing went on a tad bit too long, and I hated the way she let her dad treat her and her daughter. On top of those issues it seemed to drag a bit. We could have done without the WAY too long football explanation between Cole and Piper.

Like i said, just an OK read...

Short and a bit better than I expected. H was a total douche for almost 50% of the book. I never really got a great idea of why he was the way he was. What was revealed about his past did not equate to his anger issues.

Unfortunately, this book could never get a higher score from me because the heroine had to go to him at the end. Heroes should go after what they want!

Dangerous, arrogant, despicable, stubborn, strong, handsome, but underneath the surface of a beast, lies a gentle beautiful kind man. He just needed some help finding him. Cole and Piper have a instant intense chemistry that only continues to build with time. Add little Rosie to the mix and this is darn right one of the cutest, sweetest books I've read in awhile. Definitely a good read I would recommend to anyone!!!!!

I came across this book in an author group. The author recommended it and I instantly 1-clicked based on her rec. I started reading right away and finished the next night.

This book was fantastic. I originally had 4 stars, but as I thought about it I realized it deserved the full 5 stars. It was perfect. What I loved most about this book is Rosie. That little girl was absolutely a star in this story. She stole my heart like she stole Cole's.

Cole is a BEAST, and that's his nickname. He's a huge linebacker and stays to himself. Piper is his new snarky agent. She's a single mother (Rosie) and is working for her father. She has to try to persuade Cole to sign papers for the league a right to trade him. Then ensues the battle of persuasion on Pipers end.

This makes for the perfect blend of sexy and snarky. Because Cole is definitely SEXY! Sosie Frost is a new author to me and I can't wait to read more from her! So thank you Rebecca Yarros for the book rec!

I really was pretty surprised. I picked it up because it has a sports [NFL Football] backdrop and it a Kindle Unlimited book. My copy came bundled with two other full length novels from this author. A nice surprise.

I thought she did a good job with the characters and with development of the story. It seemed a little over the top in places, but pulled itself out of the unbelievable quick enough that I was able to read and enjoy without too much eye-rolling.

Overall, a good read if you are interested in a bit of "football" or a sports backdrop in your romance. Not complicated, but should be enough to keep you engaged.

Note: I chose not to read either of the other two books the author gave the readers. They just didn't appeal to me, at least right now and I needed to move on. You feel differently and it could be the be the perfect package for you though.

Happy Reading!

"I've ever done anything in my best interests."
"Yes, you have, Mr. Hawthorne."
"And what's that?"
She stalked before me, kneeling down to pick up the towel so very near my hard cock. She said nothing as she folded the terrycloth and pushed it to my chest.
"You hired me."

I've read almost all of Sosie Frost's books and I have to say that this one is my favorite so far. I rated it a 3 star but it's actually a strong 3.4/5 stars. This book isn't without its flaws. It's still cheesy as fuck but I actually enjoyed the book, loved the cliche plot and I was totally immersed in it. I literally finished it in 1 hour? Maybe an hour and a half?

Beauty and the Blitz is obviously inspired by the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast , but I can't really recall much reference from the old fairy-tale besides the fact that the Hero, Cole Hawthorne, calls himself The Beast and has a dark past. Now, the nickname actually has two connotations in the book: #1) Cole's persona in the field #2) Cole's description of his violent self. There's also the huge castle. Does that count?

Cole is notorious for his violence streak in the field and he's also Atwood Monarchs's best linebacker. But because of his Beastly persona, he's in danger of losing his position in his the team.
"After one hundred thousand dollar fines last year, I got their message loud and clear. They hailed me as the best linebacker in the game, and then they punished me for becoming The Beast ---the all-pro defensive MVP for my three seasons in the league."

But the problem with Cole is that his violence tendencies really runs deep. For him, The Beast isn't just his public persona. It is literally him. It's really all he's ever known.
I couldn't switch in and out of that mindset. The Beast was me, something impossible to control on the field.
And lately...just as hard to tame outside the game.

I really wanted to know more of Cole's dark past because it plays an integral part on making him the way he is, but alas, his past is very much glossed over. I wanted to know what really happened to him, that made him a loner -- what really made him think he was prone to violence?

I'd really love for the Beast nickname to be explored that way instead of having it being used so awkwardly in some of the sex scenes in this book.
"I want you too, Cole."
"Do you?" His voice lowered. "You want The Beast?"
"Yes."

"I'm not afraid of you, Cole." I whispered the words, clipped and broken so near to his lips. "I can handle a little beast."
"But it's not little, beautiful. If I fuck you, you take it all. Every inch. Every thrust. You get me?"

My panties separated us, and it infuriated him. He shredded the materials, ripping it from my body with his bare hands.
And I was exposed before the beast.
Was he a hero or a villain? Did he even know? Did I even care?

I'm sorry but what the fuck? I don't even know where to start and I won't. Those quotes speak for themselves.

The heroine, I loved. I liked that she's not a doormat. She really gets shit done --whatever her method is and very unapologetic about it. I loved how protective she is of her baby girl and I loved that she always puts her first. Oftentimes, when I read books with single mom as the main character, they tend to put the ~Hero first~ which always annoys me. I understand wanting a break, wanting to just let go of your responsibility but you ALWAYS put your child's well-being first.

Overall, this book's an enjoyable read. I will definitely anticipate Sosie's next book.

Cole & Piper are wrong for each other. Cole is known as "The Beast" on the field and he's obtained a bad reputation among the league. The Monarch's wants to trade him because of all the bad publicity and un-tameness of the brute. But they can't trade him without his consent.

Piper is a single mother looking for a better life for herself and her daughter. Her father isn't really a father. He thinks Rose, his grand-daughter, is a bad mistake that he voices every chance he gets. When Piper is given the task to convince Cole to trade to the Ironfield she didn't know her world would be changing in a drastic way.

I love it when the most opposite characters fall in love with each other. At first Cole's doucheyness rubbed me the wrong way. The crude way he spoke to women put a bad taste on my palate. It intrigued me though to get to the bottom of the reasoning for the way he become the way he was. There had to a a legitimate reason he was such a dick and as the story unfolded I received my answer. After I received my answer, I saw how Cole was so closed off.

My least favorite part of the book: The way Cole treated women at the beginning of the book.
My favorite part of the book: The way Cole treated Rose with unconditionally love.

Piper has her hands full juggling long hours, her 16 month old, Rosie, and now, pain in the patootie client Cole. His temperament is going to cost him his career and Piper’s, if she can’t find a way to reason with him about trading to another team.

This was a cute read. I love almost anything beauty and the beast and this story was full of references. The banter between Piper and Cole dripped with innuendo, causing some very funny moments, and I loved Rosie’s ability to soften Cole’s attitude with a drooling grin and warm hugs. I do think Cole could have been a tad more reasonable about his anger issues. I also think Piper could have told her dad to stick it when he spoke to her with uncalled-for harshness.

This is my first read by Sosie and I found the alternate pov’s and quick wit engaging and fun! She spun wicked chemistry between the couple and created spunky personalities I got a kick out of. I’ll definitely give another book of hers a try!

Well this was a surprise - I loved this story but I loved the flawed man they branded a "Monster" or Beast.

Cole Hawthorne is a destructive player - he destroys offensive play. a gifted athlete who just happens to be 6ft 6ins and built but his violent reputation marks him as a liability and no one can tame the beast on or off the field.

Piper Madison was unfortunate to fall into the position of Cole's agent. Piper didn't know much about football but soon learned a valuable lesson - some players were fun, some were flirty and some were gentlemen but none of these titles belonged to Cole Hawthorne.

From their first meeting she branded him as pompous, ill-mannered egomanic - a defensive diva who always got his way but what happens when fate drops the ball straight into her lap? Does she catch it and keep it or does she let it drop? What happens when the Beast meets his match?

This was a first read of Sosie Frost and I loved this author's style of writing. Cole was a great alpha, and although, at times, he was a complete assI loved him. Piper was a strong character and didnt take any crap from Cole. I loved that she eventually tamed this infuriating, frustrating man.

Beauty and the Blitz by Sosie Frost
4.5 stars!!!

“I can’t promise you a happily ever after…fuck, I’m still working on this once upon a time.”

All you ladies…protect your ovaries because if you pick up this book they are more than likely to combust. Swoon, swoon and more swoon. There is nothing more heart melting than a man and a kid, especially when said man is 6ft 6, built like a tank and doesn’t believe he is worthy of love let alone the love of a child. While this kid wasn’t his, the way he welcomed her into his life was nothing short of amazing and the change in him as a person was a beauty to read about.

“Christ. Three days ago I broke a man’s back. In what universe did Piper think it was a good idea to bring a baby to me? I couldn’t be trusted around anything that required a soft touch. My body…wasn’t capable of gentleness.”

This book is hilarious too, I had tears of laughter throughout, mainly at the hands of said man trying to adapt to child proofing and just having a kid around in general. Sosie Frost really hits the nail on the head throughout this book and her sense of humour came across fantastically in her writing. It truly was hysterical, any mum will be able to relate and even if you are not I am sure that you will find this book highly entertaining. But, and this is a huge BUT, this was so much more than just a laugh out loud book, this was a book that had one of the cutest and most beautiful love stories I have read in a long time.

“…but who the fuck were they protecting when they turned the appliance into some Acme-grade Wile E. Coyote deadfall trap? Great. The baby was safe, but the linebacker was nearly a pancake. The house wasn’t baby-proofed. It was booby-trapped.”

Piper Madison was a single mum who had become a statistic through one mistake. Having to forego her college life was a small price to the pay for the love of her daughter and Rose was one mistake that she would never regret. Piper was now working for her father at his sports agency, usually as a gopher but it made enough money to keep a roof over their heads…just, however, her father needed her to do a job that had the potential to promote her but failure was not an option, if she failed, she was fired. Piper’s mission was to get Cole Hawthorne, the dirtiest player in the league to agree to a trade, a trade he didn’t want.

Cole Hawthorne was “The Beast,” he was 6ft 6 of pure muscle, was highly motivated, tunnel visioned for victory and took no prisoners. He really was a beast on the field and was highly feared by all his opponents. While there was never any malice behind his actions, sometimes just the pure force and the adrenaline behind one of his tackles knocks a man for six, causes injuries and the powers that be wanted him out of the league. He was perceived as “dirty” when in fact he was just highly motivated and focused. Football was everything to Cole, he lived and breathed it but more importantly, everything to do with football was his outlet. An outlet for all his issues especially his anger. He would work himself to the point of exhaustion just to be able sleep and he was a loner, he kept himself to himself. But underneath that hard, brash, unapproachable exterior was a man with a heart of gold who had the propensity to love like no other. Cole just needed to believe it so that he could find it. When Piper Madison knocks on his door, Cole Hawthorne may have just met his match…nothing more determined than a mama bear protecting her young.

“Linemen feared me. Running backs avoided me. Receivers hated me. And quarterbacks? I scattered those pretty boys over the goddamned field. I was stronger than them. Faster than them. I knew the plays they’d call, and I loved when they pissed their pants as they read my blitz.”

Piper was seemingly on “mission impossible,” Cole was as stubborn as hell and erected every single wall he had to keep her out as well as her stupid ideas and recommendations. Cole had his reasons but he keeps everything to himself and doesn’t let anyone in. Piper, however, was persistent and slowly but surely her tenacity was getting to Cole, they both begin to open up and when babysitter problems introduce Rose into the mix all bets are off.

The change in Cole was seriously breath taking, for a man so jaded and a man who actually hated himself and what he perceived he had become, to see the change in him as Piper and Rose seamlessly embed themselves into his daily life was truly heart-warming. Cole needed to believe in himself and more importantly believe that he was worthy of love in all shapes and forms. Having never had it, he never knew what he was missing until it hit him in the shape of Piper and Rose.

“The world encouraged me to become The Beast until they realized they’d created a monster. And monsters didn’t get to make love.”

I swooned a lot, I wanted to jump into the kindle and give Cole the biggest hugs, he was a beautiful man on the inside and out and just needed his eyes and heart opened to realise it. Sosie Frost captured this perfectly and as this man transforms before your very eyes you cannot help but champion him on. Piper was exactly what Cole needed, she didn’t take his crap, she called him out, but she always had his best interests at heart. These two made a fantastic team.

“I want to fuck you until you beg for mercy…and I want to pleasure you until you beg for more.”

I loved everything about this book, I ran the gamut of emotions, I laughed and I cried, I felt everything. I lived their lives for the duration, I was a voyeur looking in and I didn’t want to leave. The sex scenes were intense, emotional and seriously hot, every feeling was conveyed perfectly through words and really added that extra layer of character connection.

“I don’t see any beast here.”
“No?”
“I only see the man I love.”

I will warn you that when you download this book there are an extra two books included, two full sized novels, so on the kindle this book finished at about 34%. I was gutted…I thought this was one really long book and I had a lot of time left with them. Beautiful story, hilarious too, I just loved it.

A sexy, humorous, fast paced sports romance that uses the theme of beauty and the beast to help an anger-prone linebacker and a single mom/agent find their path to their HEA. Enjoyable and IMO better written than the first in the series. Rosie, the baby, is adorable and I loved how seamlessly she is integrated into the story. Steamy love scenes, some compelling angst, and a kick arse heroine left me quite happy with the ending. My only qualm is the story dragged in the beginning with some repetition and back and forth that almost had me quitting. Luckily it didn't t last long and the story picked up the pace and my interest.

I enjoyed this reworked tale of Beauty and the Beast. There were some laugh out loud moments throughout the book. I came to love Cole more and more as I read. It could have been shortened and honestly probably been better. For as long as it was we don't get much of Coles backstory. Rose was adorable. I love stories with kids. Totally safe. The h had a ONS and got pregnant. The father shows up in the story like twice but I wouldn't call it OM drama. No OW at all. The H is an NFL player but he even says he's not a "player". He never had a relationship before and never loved anyone. The h was it for him. They never use condoms and never discuss them.

A palate cleanser, a book of nothingness that my wee little brain could handle.
The writing, average. The plot, kinda boring. There is a baby, enough said. But I didn’t DNF so it wasn’t atrocious 🤷🏼‍♀️

4.5 Beast stars

Cole Hawthorne, defensive captain for the Atwood Monarchs, was named "The Beast" by fans and media, because of his abilities on the field and his lone wolf behavior off field. So it's a wonder that now not only the media, but his team and the league have all turned against him as his playing has become more aggressive. There's a clause in his contract that keeps them from trading him and he doesn't want to leave.

description

But when beautiful, petite, single mom, Piper Madison is tasked with getting him to sign the waiver to be traded, it start a series of events that brings these to people; one damaged from his past and present and the other struggling as a single mother with no help from those in her life, together with explosive and hilarious results.

description

Cole believes he is unloveable and wants to protect Piper from not only himself but those who are making her life more difficult. Piper quickly learns that Cole isn't the 'Monster' even he thinks he is. Will she and baby Rose be able to prove to him that he's a good man and better with them in his life?

Sosie is a new author to me. I noticed the offer to read the ARC of her book through a posting on Facebook by one of my most recent favorite reads, author Sabrina Paige, that she recommended the book and Sosie was looking for reviewers to read her book. That recommendation, made me stop and sign up. I'm so glad I decided to try a new author. This book is a contemporary sports reimagining of Beauty and the Beast and wonderfully done. I stayed up all night to finish it. That's how entertaining it was.

There were some slightly sad moments... Nothing too intense, just a few revelations that make you understand the characters better. Then there were moments of such hilarity that I thought I was going to swallow my tongue, I was laughing so hard... With tears running down my face. Like Cole's description of baby-proofing:
...who the f*#@k were they protecting when they turned the appliance into some Acme-grade Wile E. Coyote deadfall trap?

I also loved that these two were an interracial romance, but the only time it was mentioned was in their descriptions. No one else brought it up and neither did they.

So if I loved it so much why not give it a full 5 stars? Well you have to know me. I'm a tough reviewer. Even though I will never bash an author because I respect them for putting themselves out there. Giving an author a full 5 stars is like getting the Olympic Gold from me. So giving Sosie 4.5 stars is just shy of getting it. There were little minor things that accumulated that brought it down a half point for me, but they were so minor they aren't worth mentioning. Just things I noticed.

But that shouldn't keep everyone who loves sports romance, enemies to lovers, and hysterical moments from reading it. I've been into the funny sexy for a while now and this totally fit the bill and was worth staying up late to finish it. I can't wait for the next book in the series, Once Upon a Touchdown , coming out in June. It can't come soon enough.

Loved beauty and the blitz

A grumpy beast of a player with a bad reputation and a woman who doesn’t back down.

When Piper was assigned Cole and she wad to be his agent it seems both met their match.

Piper: Cole Hawthorne was a beast. A monster. A huge, lumbering slab of muscle and rage and he was the most gorgeous man I'd ever seen in my life.

With baby in tow, Piper stubbornly did everything she could to get Cole to sign a contract and neither was budging. It was a love hate turning to lust relationship that eventually lead to more and it was a brilliant read.

Full of humour and hot moments with a good plot and everything you would hope to find in a contemporary romance.

Told in dual pov's Beauty and the blitz had me laughing out loud so many times as each character tells their story.

Cole: Her touch gave me hope. Her kiss soothed my rage and her words broke the curse that trapped me in fury, isolation and fear.

Recommended read and I will definitely be looking forward to more from Sosie Frost.

Never settle

I enjoyed this book. When we are first introduced to Cole he came across as this overly conceited individual. Little did we know that there was much more to him than what everybody thought. Piper is a single mom trying to take care of her daughter Rose. Her father and her baby daddy are two useless men within this book.

The first interaction between Cole and Piper was to say the least a bit tumultuous. Their relationship had a lot of good banter and a lot of funny moments within it. As the story progresses we see that Cole is much more than what was initially described. He is sweet, sensitive, and loves hard. The interaction he has with Rosie, Piper's daughter, is so sweet. At first he is just a typical male not knowing exactly how to take care of a baby but as the story progresses you see that the relationship grows between the two.

At times Cole was your typical brooding, self-deprecating hero. We never really got to find out about his past and why he referred to as 'The Beast' 👹. That is my only issue with this book. I love the interaction with Piper and Cole and I am glad that we got a cute epilogue in the end.

Of the 20% I read, the whole thing was filled with nothing but sexual innuendos and inappropriate propositions between Cole and Piper. It was all sexual harassment until I got to the actual sexual assault (repeatedly smacking her ass), when I decided this was awful and it was getting worse instead of better.
