August 6, 2020I like taboo novels. Teacher/student; doctor/patient etc.
I even read a book and there, the heroine was the hero's best friend's mother. And I loved that book so much.
I can also read taboo romance between step-brother & step-sister - again, no problem.
I even loved Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma, which was about incest (real brother and sister) but it was a masterpiece so that book forever stays in my all times favorite books list.
However, I draw my line somewhere, of course:
I can never condone a father/daughter romance even if it is between a step-father and step-daughter.
Nope nope nope. That's just gross.
THE BLURB of this book doesn't say what the taboo is so let me say it:
In this book, the hero, Dominic, is 41 years old and he has known the heroine since she was 10. Actually, when she was 10, he became the principal at her elementary school and she developed a crush on him (yeah, at the age of 10... whatever). Later, her mother met Dominic and they fell in love and got married soon.
Dominic was in love with his wife (the heroine's mother) and had a happy marriage until she died. And he was in our heroine Stassia’s life as her step-father for seven years.
Stassia is now 17 years old.
Age gap: 41 - 17 = 24
Now, while Dominic is mourning for his dead wife and Stassia is suffering from the death of her mother, they come closer and develop feelings for each other. Oh, but don't worry, he doesn't touch her until she is 18... Yay!
This is UTTERLY disgusting for me and I just want to puke thinking about them together in this way. Nope, totally unacceptable for me.
I pity the dead wife/mum. Poor woman - she must be turning in her grave while her daughter and husband are having hot sex after her death!

Lolita-esque story: Mother dies, daughter left with step-father, daughter seduces step daddy 2 months later.
The mother must be rolling, pirouetting, cart-wheeling in her grave. I swear if my kid ever behaved the way the heroine did in this book.....I'd crawl out of my casket just to haunt her ass. But then again, I did crack up a few times. Not cause anything was funny but from the idiocy, truly magnificent thinking these two had.

I'm surprised there are so many low ratings. This the type of book tik tok would eat up.
To me it had similar energy to Birthday Girl: boring, forgettable, inconsequential. I swear all these forbidden books depend on one thing only: the taboo. That's not enough to keep my interest, make the story at least semi memorable.
The smut was giving though and that's exactly what I was searching for. The moment the heroine started manipulating the hero into "just a kiss", my daddy issues started twerking to this chorus
PS: He is also her highschool principal👀

This was so gross.
I’m not someone who takes issue with taboo. That’s not the problem here. This was executed so badly, so lazily, so sloppily that it wasn’t even taboo— it was just STUPID.
If your stepdad of 8 years— YOUR DAD for all intents and purposes— wants to e*t your a*s two months after your mom dies, maybe call CPS and get the fuck out of there. I’m not over here on my high horse expecting Dostoevsky, but come on. How is this dark and twisted and hot? It’s just depressing and slimy.

In my opinion, there was NOTHING dark or sexy about this book. It was giving— watching a low budget MTV documentary about incest in rural Alabama because the parties involved are not up to speed with the rest of society, not because they’re twisted and hot.

So very taboo!
This book was hella hot and steamy and there were definitely some taboo aspects of the stepfather/stepdaughter relationship that I did not like. However, it seems that in romance novels a good author can make any relationship seem like a love that was meant to be. So if you can get past the wrongness of the relationship, the book is certainly great romance and erotica.
Like the stepbrother/stepsister romance trope, there are certain times when I find issue with stepfather/stepdaughter relationships and times when I don’t. I never understand the way guys that are over 40 want to be with a woman under 23. I mean sure they look great but you still have to talk to your spouse or partner too much for that to be worth it in my book and looking back to when I was that age despite doing well in college and already being a Mom, I was so naïve. But that is beside the point.
In this case the Hero, Dominic is 41 and he has known the heroine since she was 10. Dominic has been in Stassia’s life as her mother’s husband for seven years and Stassia is now 18 years old. She finishes high school within months of her mothers death in a car accident. Before the mother’s death, Dominic was the only father figure Stassia had ever known. So to me it just seems extremely taboo.
It would be better for me if Stassia and Dominic hadn’t met until Stassia was at least 17 or 18 and they weren’t both grieving the dead mother. If the mother was a bad person and the stepfather hadn’t been in love with the mother, it would help (in my mind at least).
Though I must say, I do really like the way the taboo aspect of the relationship was treated in this book, not only by Dominic and Stassia, but by others who find out about it. Dominic especially has a lot of guilt about his feelings for Stassia and what they are doing, and not only because he recently lost her mother, but because he has been a father figure to her. It is brought up on numerous occasions that their relationship will be looked down on by others.
Also, even Dominic realizes that though he never touched Stassia until months after his wife died and never before she turned 18, people would most likely assume that things started earlier than they actually did. People would assume Dominic groomed Stassia for himself. The thoughts and feelings are very genuine for the situation. Unlike in many taboo romance books where the characters don’t care or feel that what they are doing might be wrong.
I really enjoyed the actual romance between Stassia and Dominic, so if you can get beyond the taboo aspects of the plot, it is actually a nice romance with a lot of extra steam! Dominic is actually a great guy and a terrific boyfriend. So there was a lot about this book to like! b

4 Slippery Slope Stars ⭐
Love is never meant to be this complicated. Except when all the odds are stacked against you, and you’re forced to go against the grain. And fair warning, Love Unexpected will make even the biggest kinkster uncomfortable. But I guess that’s why some scenarios a dubbed taboo.
I think you are so beautiful, Stassi. So fucking beautiful sometimes it hurts to look at you and know that you’re you. Someone I can’t ever have.
Stassia was 10 years old when her mother married Dominic. Not only does he become her stepfather, he is the principal at her school. Cue the awkwardness. When tragedy strikes, the man she has kept at arm’s length will become her everything. As Stassia and Dominic navigate a new phase in their life, they opt to weather it together.
As they settle into a new routine, the animosity between them begins to settle. Dominic stops viewing Stassia as a child, and she in turn begins looking to him for guidance and comfort. However, when solace turns into attraction, the lines of right and wrong become blurred and questionable.
I’m playing with fire. Actually, fuck playing. I’ve taken residence in hell and Satan has been whispering in my ear all night about how fucking sinful Stassia looks.
Wrong, wrong, wrong! There is no turning back from this hot mess. Because one kiss will never be enough with an attraction as tangible as there’s. How can attraction blossom into love with a man who is your stepfather and twice your age? And how can their relationship be deemed acceptable if they choose to pursue it? (Which of course they do!)
When you pick up a book by QB Tyler you are guaranteed to enjoy the heck out of it. This author writes some of the hottest, filthiest and naughtiest tales you’ll ever read. BUT, in my opinion I would have preferred for the relationship of Dominic and Stassia to have played out differently. The ending was right, but their beginning needed more time. Time for mourning, time for new beginnings.

Beautiful, Emotional & Unexpected Love”

Although I saw him first and told myself at the young age of ten that I was madly in love with this beautiful man, said beautiful man fell in love with someone else.
My mother.
I was ten years old when I fell in love.
Two years later, I fell in hate.
My first ever book by this author and what an amazing and erotic experience it was. I won’t be forgetting these characters for a while, that’s for sure. The writing was flawless with so much depth. What I can’t get over is just how hot and filthy it was and the connection between the MCs. The taboo aspect was done amazingly well. I was unable to put it down and finished it in a couple of hours.
Stassia Vale saw Dominic Callahan for the first time when she was ten years old and fell in love at first sight. He looked like a prince from one of her fairy tales but she soon turns to hate him when years later he marries her mother, shattering her dream of ever being together with him. She tries to push down her feelings by basically being a brat and annoying him which leads to heat up arguments and a lot of tension filled back and forth following years.
Tragedy strikes when her mother gets killed in an accident when she’s about to graduate her school. She’s sees Dominic in a new light when they start to grieve together, they are almost civil to each other. With them spending a lot of time together, a different kind of tension starts to build between them. One late night when they are both high, she confesses her childhood crush on him, more like it slips out and they can tell that things will never be the same way.
I’ve always been very careful to keep him out of my thoughts when my hand is between my legs and I can’t start now.
Not while we’re alone in the house.
Not while we’re both vulnerable.
Not while he’s lonely.
Not now that I’m legal.
At the beginning, it felt like a delicious slow burn which later picks up heat when they go on a trip together which forces them to confront this newfound attraction between them.

It feels innocent since no one knows who they are which makes it easier to pretend that they are not stepfather and stepdaughter. They agree for this single weekend but deep down they know it will be impossible to get back to the way things were before despite them trying so hard.
”You…you want it? You want…my virginity?”
“I want anything you’re willing to give me,” I tell her honestly as I stare into her chocolate eyes. She’s full of fire but there’s also softness and innocence behind the burning embers and I’ll certainly walk through hell to touch that part of her. To feel that. To love that.

Up to this weekend, the way things matured between them is what I loved the most. What made their chemistry even better was how they helped each other heal. Dominic was there for her every step of the way even though his pain and loss was the same. It was equally hard for them both. It was Dominic’s second wife who passed away and for stassia, losing your mother at such a young age is never easy. Their pain and hurt brought tears to my eyes. The words of wisdom from Dominic were truly heartfelt which is what made me fall in love with him.
I drool at the thought. The thought of plucking that thin string, moving it to the side, and sliding my tongue between her ass and into that sacred hole. My mouth waters at the idea of kissing her through those sheer panties. “Do you have hair on your cunt, Stassi? Or are you bare?”
“Fuck.” She breathes out and stares at the road in front of us. “I’m bare…”
“Of course, you are,” I grumble. I hadn’t expected anything else from my walking sex of a stepdaughter.
I did not expect the level of filth and dirty talk the author wrote. It took me by surprise and after the initial shock, I could not get enough. Dominic had a vivid dirty mind, he truly fucked like an animal in a totally hot way. The dirty talk was off the charts sexy and made the scenes all the more steamy. It wasn’t just him but stassia gave back as good as she got, her mouth and mind were just as sexy and irresistible.
”If you even think about getting prude on me, I’ll put you on your stomach, tie your arms and legs to each corner of this bed and eat your ass until you fucking cry,” he growls as his tongue circles my hole.
“I just…”
“Till. You. Cry,” he says as he probes my ass between each word. He pulls back and smacks my ass again before I feel his cock again. I turn around and see his eyes boring into mine, a sweet smile playing on his lips despite his sinfully sexy words and actions. “Before this weekend is over, I will have claimed every inch of your skin with my lips and tongue.”
Back home, they are only able to resist each other for a week before they give in to their desires again but it can never be as easy as when they were on vacation. To truly make it work they had to face challenges as well as their love for each other.

It made for a very angsty and tension filled push and pull. With her absentee father in the picture again who kept making things worse, it truly made things harder. Despite some drama because of it, I was happy they fought it and finally got their HEA.
”Us? There’s an us?”
“There’s been an us. For longer than both of us probably realized. You and I, we were unexpected, Stassia. A surprise that I never saw coming. But fuck, am I glad you happened.”
The author did an excellent job in not making it seem creepy or wrong in a bad way. The connection was genuine and made them compatible. Stassia was an amazing heroine who seemed mature beyond her years and made her my favourite. Dominic was a perfect match for her, I loved his depth, possessiveness, filthy mind and most importantly the way he loved her.
I have read my fair share of taboo romance but not one with so much emotion and connection which was a nice change and I highly recommend this to all my friends who crave a taboo and dirty romance like me. ♥️

The author did an excellent job in not making it seem creepy or wrong in a bad way. The connection was genuine and made them compatible. Stassia was an amazing heroine who seemed mature beyond her years and made her my favourite. Dominic was a perfect match for her, I loved his depth, possessiveness, filthy mind and most importantly the way he loved her.
I have read my fair share of taboo romance but not one with so much emotion and connection which was a nice change and I highly recommend this to all my friends who crave a taboo and dirty romance like me. ♥️

GIVE ME ALL OF THE FORBIDDEN AND TABOO. Stassia has not gotten along with Dominic for a long time. He married her mom when she was 10, but she's never seen him as a father. When Stassia's mom passes away, Dominic and Stassia find solace in each other. Things turn into something more. I loved the emotion in this book and how much Dominic and Stassia tried to stay away from each other. Because Stassia never saw Dominic as a father, I could believe that they saw each other as something more. This was definitely a steamy read and their physical attraction quickly turned into something much deeper. There were a few conflicts in this book, including drama with Stassia's birth father, which I enjoyed as an additional element to the romance. I do think that the ending rushed a bit, so that's why I took off half a star, but I loved everything else about this book!

I. Am. Not... entirely sure what to say about this book. Beyond the fact that it was hot as HELL, of course. Because, whoa. It was for sure some panty-melting porn.
So, this is a very very taboo story about a man and his stepdaughter falling in love after his wife/her mother dies. I say two verys because the dude was pretty legit her dad for close to 10 years. He was the only dad she ever knew, actually. So, as you can imagine... it's just a wee bit problematic.
Here's the thing, though. Instead of this story shying away from the fucked-up-ness of it all, it actually does it great justice. There are many times I had feelings of hatred for Dominic, because he really is a horrible father figure and totally fucks with Stassia. Christ, he even admits to watching porn that resembled their situation waaaay before he was widowed and she was of age. It's creepy as shit. And Stassia is so young and has clear abandonment issues. Her infatuation with Dominic started when she was just a child, and apparently she never really grew out of it.
So you say to yourself as you're reading, "Wow, this is totally fucked." Then they address the fucked, in multiple ways throughout their whole courtship. Nothing ever makes it better, per say. But the fact that, as a reader, you have all these thoughts that actually present themselves in the book? It's refreshing! I'm used to taboo reads being hot but totally OTT with the drama and conclusion. This one kind of hits the mark in a special way.
It's angsty as hell, and for good reason. I really never liked Dominic, especially towards the end. He shouldn't have let any of this happen. But, it did. And they made the most of it.
And again, I stress. It was smoking hot y'all. Holy hell, was it ever.
So, here's the deal. You gotta be okay with the taboo theme to enjoy this book. If it doesn't float your boat then do NOT read this. But if you're into taboo reads, then this is actually a really good one and I definitely recommend it.

Maybe life had abandonment controversy in time of need and it's no surprise how it fucks with us when it comes back to pick us up from where it left but what if what happens is for the best.
This is my first stepfather/stepdaughter full length romance book and I'm glad I started with Q.B. Tyler for I actually love a good story with a naughty trope besides kinks.

"My stepfather, the dreamy object of my affection for most of my tenth year of life, became my nightmare just a few years later."
Stassia (18), was 10 years when she fell in love with a man who came to her school. Sadly her heart was broken when he married her mother.
Dominic (41), was dream man of every female, little to older. He was overprotective, compulsive and worries alot for his wife and stepdaughter.
Dominic and Stassia had a difficult beginning. Stassia was aware of her feelings for Dominic but she wonders how much has it blossomed to after years feeling animosity with the man of her affection under the same roof. On the other hand Dominic hesitates with his attraction for Stassia, he never realises his pondering thoughts for his stepdaughter. While there is guilt and he knows his thoughts are depraved but subconciously he feels for Stassia.
“I know this makes me crazy and maybe a little fucked up, but…I won’t tell if you won’t.” She leans forward. “We’re here, where no one knows us. No one knows who we are to each other. We can be…whoever we want. Haven’t you ever done anything bad, Dominic? Have you ever taken a walk on the wild side? Haven’t you ever wanted something you know you shouldn’t have? Or…someone?”
I admit while this relationship may perceive the image of both of them I want nothing more than for them to be together infact if I had magic I would solve the age and relationship issue but what's true is if there is no forbidden aspects, where is love. Stassia is the most persistant partner of their relationship. While she manages to break the hackles holding Dominic back her persuit brings consequences in the form of her biological father who admitably has no idea how to parent.
"...then we fall off the face of the Earth together and live happily ever after.” She pops her head up and looks at me before straddling my pelvis. “Dominic, let’s not talk about what comes after this and just enjoy it now.”
Stassia is a teenager and her demands may feel naive or immature but to my view the author has perfectly developed her. She throws tantrums, makes all teenage drama and exceptionally shows a maturity of a child who has grown up between the love of her mother, grandparents and step-grandparents. So yes I think she was justified enough to love an older person.
This is a slow burn romance with two extremely horny lovers. If you don't like taboo and overlook it you'll see a beautiful love story. I recommend Q.B. Tyler's books, you may find she writes some actual stories.

Taboo Romance (Stepfather/Stepdaughter)
Love Unexpected is a taboo (stepfather/stepdaughter romance). Seeing as I haven’t read a taboo story in a long time, I was excited to read this one. There’s just something so angsty and sexy about these sorts of books, you know? Unfortunately, this one didn’t really live up to my expectations. When I think of a taboo romance especially one as forbidden as a stepfather and stepdaughter, I think angst, slow burn, and chemistry. This book didn’t have any of that. One minute she’s his little girl crying at a funeral and in the next moment both were sexually attracted towards one another. It was like **POOF* here are my feelings let’s bang it out in the dirtiest ways! (Cringe). Don’t get me wrong, I love a dirty book as much as anyone but this one was over the top. I wanted the story to just back up and deliver the gut punching feelings that would normally be associated with these types of relationships along with a little fear and unease (in terms of the characters feelings). We just never get that. It was too much, too soon, and there was no grief or regret.
Another thing I didn’t care for was how EASY it seemed for these two. As I mentioned, books like these need ANGST. People SHOULD have been pissed that the Dominic “took advantage” of his stepdaughter when she was only 18 (and literally JUST turned 18) but it was shown to be easily accepted at the end. Um WHAT!?! That’s not realistic! I need realism in the books I read and this one was missing it completely.
Now, I get that many people are going to love this book and I honestly hope more people love it than I did. It’s clear that the author is a good writer and has many fans and I appreciate the time and effect she took to write this taboo treat. However, it just wasn’t my cup of tea and that’s OKAY. Not every book will be a winner for everyone.

was excepting something edgier considering I loved this author's book Forget Me Not but this was poorly written and the dialogue was really off.. I couldn't overlook it despite steamy scenes..
clearly, I am not bothered by the smut & taboo
I wanted some more emotional connection, I wanted to care about these characters...
I know..I'm the clown here.. come on self lower your expectations and read blurbs...
but if you want straight-up daddy kink - then read this book!

Sometimes an audio can improve a book and sometimes it’s a detriment to the original story. And times like these it did neither, I felt exactly now as I did the first time I read it.
I enjoyed Nia Serge, she has a smooth voice and her take on STASIA was spot on. Tor Thom is fine, his voice just gets on my nerves and I honestly feel like he kinda ruined Dom for me. Fortunately they cancelled each other out so my original rating remains the same.

Overall this book is hot as all get out. The characters, the pacing, the torturous emotions... spot on.
Is it Daddy issues when you liked him first? Just because you’re with or prefer older men doesn’t mean you have daddy issues. That thinking is short sighted.
Lol well I appreciate the fact that the principal dropped her off at a high school party. Talk about the height of irony.
Good for her for standing up to Carter. She’s right, she doesn’t owe him a damn thing. We need more characters/scenes like this.
Who is this guy? He’s overbearing and protective but takes her to parties and lets her get away with getting high? Can you say blurred lines? Having said that, when he scared her ... priceless.
They’re struggling, that much is clear. The boundaries are practically obliterated because Angela was obviously the glue to their family. Which doesn’t mean they’re not meant to be in each other’s lives. It makes sense to evolve into friends and then maybe more. This doesn’t feel taboo to me, it feels inevitable.
God she’s strong and smart.

Yes it is incredibly wild that her mom sadly passes away and she finds not only the comfort in her stepfathers arms but also in his pants. It was hot af. Period. This book, I ate. I devoured. It was so incredibly fast paced and only 282 pages!!

What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
It shouldn’t have been only that one time. But it didn’t stop there. And now, they don’t intend to stop either. It was unexpected, but it happened and now, it’s time to face the consequences.
This is my second QB Tyler read. I wasn’t in tune with my first one, but knowing what to expect from Love Unexpected, I got the feel for it. It was an easy read and an entertaining page turner with emotional elements. This is a super taboo read. I repeat. SUPER TABOO. Morals? OUT OF THE WINDOW LOL. Jesus? HE HAS LEFT THE BUILDING. If you want some steam, pull up to this book and you’ll get plenty of it. QB Tyler is a Steam Queen! She knows how to set a romantic scene and her characters always have INTENSE chemistry. I’m giving FIVE SINFUL STARS because of that! She explored the emotional and physical relationship of the two leads very well. I can’t say the beginning is rushed (although plenty have pointed out that the amount of time that passes in the book is too little for the respective situation – as a private person, I agree, but as a taboo reader, I’m like TO HELL WITH IT! SIN AWAY, LOVE BIRDS), but I felt like the ending was indeed a bit rushed. I might have preferred more drama over there, but, all in all, this book was pretty satisfying! It ticked all the boxes when it comes to age gap, taboo and erotic romances and it gave it a fresh twist to it that makes it so wickedly irresistible!! I recommend this to taboo readers, age gap lovers and stans of the STEAM in capital letters.

And The hate THAT I HAVE FOR MICAH IS UNBELIEVABLE.
yeah, that's it go read this book please I swear you won't regret it at all. And brb going to read unconditional by Q.B Tyler.

Taboo is one of my favorite tropes. When I saw so many of my favorites loving this book. I dove in. I wanted to love the book. I liked it a lot, just not love. The stepfather/stepdaughter dynamic wasn’t the problem. It was more of the writing style.
Stasia first fell in love with her stepfather, Dominic, at ten years of age. Two years later, her mother marries him, is crushed, and now hates him.
Because although I saw him first and told myself at the young age of ten that I was madly in love with this beautiful man, said beautiful man fell in love with someone else—my mother. I was ten years old when I fell in love. Two years later, I fell in hate.

Fast forward a couple of weeks before her 18th birthday and she receives devastating news her mother passed away. Both grieving, she stays with him to finish school and graduate, plus he is the only father figure she has had in her life. Early in the book is where feelings start to develop. As much as I would like to see that happened later down the road. I think it would have taken away from the story.
“It’s not for little girls, baby.” I pout and furrow my eyebrows in indignation. “I am not a little girl.” “No, Stassi. You certainly are not.” His voice is low, and his eyes flare with a look I’ve never seen before.
A nipple ring and two tattoos. It’s like God made this girl with the sign that said “Insert Dominic Callahan’s dick here.”
And let your freak flag fly high for everyone to see. Because it gets boiling hot, from there, it's full steam ahead. Both are Afraid of what people will think. How wrong their love is. I will say QB Tyler wrote some of the filthy and sexy scenes.
