In Nueces County, where Corpus Christi is located, newly planned pumping projects alone could add up to over 1,000 percent of what the state water plan considers a sustainable rate of withdrawal from aquifers.

    i'm sure it's fine.

They are pulling so much fucking water already that the private water wells twenty miles away have already dropped so far that farmers and family homes are having to have well pumps dropped further down to ensure they are still able to draw water. Others who can afford it are dropping heavy money to drill a second well which is a temporary fix at best; once the water drops a million new wells can't draw what isn't there.

Meanwhile Corpus Christi is still building car washes, making new water taps for businesses and residences. They are still making taps for lawn sprinklers.

There is going to be a desal plant here, come hell or high water. That desal plant's capacity has already been sold off. The plans for the plant haven't been designed yet. But all the capacity has been sold off to commercial interest already.

There's so much more to it than this one good article. The whole thing is a fucking fiasco of epic proportions.
