Incredible bedroom at Chavenage House. Parts of the present-day house are thought to date from the 14th-century when the building would have consisted of the Great Hall with kitchens and a one-up and one-down. On purchasing Chavenage in 1564, Edward Stephens started a major reconstruction of the site. He gutted the medieval building and put on the two wings and the porch to create an Elizabethan manor house. Free to HHA Friends. www.hha.org.uk/Property/373/Chavenage-House
