While I'm a metal guy, this is not my normal go-to subgenre. I can't point to any single aspect and tell you that's why I like this album, but I can say that the complete package is fantastic and I'm so glad that I found it. Pragma is super beautiful in the most metal way. It made me pay close attention to the rest of the album. The riff in Sirens is evil and I love it. Wrath is the one that makes me want to run through a wall though. I normally have to listen to that one twice.
Favorite track: Wrath.

I'd go along with a few of the reviews here, I am not a huge fan of proggy melo-death, but here we are in for an innovative blend of symphonic deathcore and progressive post-black, it kinda worked for me too! "Wanderlust" is a keeper, and it has a personal meaning too, so it's a win-win-win and then some!

This was actually one of my favorites of 2024, I just didn't get around to buying it until now. This takes all of the strengths of The Carpathian Summit and ramps it up significantly. More diverse tones, more progressive song structuring, excellent melodies, phenomenal production, and the title track is truly a lesson in songwriting. Also has very relatable lyrics overall. Probably my favorite of Illyria's work so far!

Every time I listen to this album, I find myself transported to a realm of titanic mountains and lush deep forests. The beautiful atmosphere created on this record never ceases to amaze me and at points bring tears to my eyes. My favorite song is Resurgence, such a perfect opening track. It captures my attention instantly and sets this epic tone for the rest of the album. This album needs a vinyl pressing. Pleaseee

Take Me Somewhere Beautiful

I had somehow missed this album. I heard the first two and Wanderlust, but only found out about this one after I bought the discography. This album takes a significantly different direction, leaning harder into atmospheric post-hardcore territory. This sound shift goes well with the album title, eschewing bleak atmosphere and shifting toward more progressive song structuring overall. I could do without the cussing (which just feels unnecessary) but overall, it's an enjoyable listen!
