We suffer from decades of society built up around the assumption that Cars Are The Way, and infrastructure/systems built around supporting cars. Zoning laws that separate business from homes, funding for supporting car infrastructure but not public transit, etc.

What we have, we have because people profited from ensuring cars were the solution most people moved to, then spending that money lobbying for numerous initiatives to ensure life was extremely inconvenient if you didn’t have a car.

The solution is neither “accusing anti-car people of having so sense of what’s going on”, nor “accusing car people of blindly feeding into a bad system”. It’s gonna take holding industries and lobbyists to account, and sustained action by many concerned citizens across multiple venues.

I’d say, they censor the smallest part you can, with the intent of leaving the meaning more or less intact while minimizing the offense that might be caused. “God ***" doesn’t really mean anything, but " damnit” does.

It’s important to remember there is no default or baseline for defining a human person. With race, if someone just says “person” without specifying race/color, does that imply “white” (or whatever other default) to you? And if I just say “people”, does that mean straight people only and not gay people?

How about gender? Are “people” just the men, or just the women? Cis/trans is the same. There is no default here, just a bunch of people with different backgrounds trying to do their best.

Also, if it just so happens you’re one of the folks who considers “cis” a slur, I’d ask if you feel the same about the most accurate terms for your gender, race/ethnicity, etc.

“Legal” is not inherently the same as “right”, “just” or “good.” If you’re going to call everyone here stupid, you have a responsibility to provide evidence of your claim that ICE’s work reduces violent crime and targets violent criminals. Or your implication that undocumented immigrants are responsible for an outsized share of those crimes.
