For over 60 years, Kibbutz Nir Oz has symbolised resilience and environmental innovation in Israel’s Western Negev. Founded in 1955, its pioneers planted trees before building homes, placing the land at the heart of community life. On October 7, Nir Oz was devastated, suffering one of the highest losses of life and infrastructure: 117 of its 384 members were murdered or abducted and 97% of its homes were destroyed.
Today, rebuilding is underway. Families are returning, homes are being restored and new life is emerging.
This project supports the restoration, rehabilitation and expansion of the Botanical Gardens of Nir Oz, a vital place of healing, hope and renewal at the centre of the community’s recovery.
