This game is really incredible! It's all the best of a clicker game (reminiscing of cookie clicker) and a town builder. You did a really great job gently pushing us to stop production on one island to move to the next. The roughly 30-45 min per island is also perfect - It's like a game of TFT duration. You also did a great job making it feel like I want to "turn the page" to the next island rather than log off, but if I do log off, I feel excited that the resources will build, not bad that I'm losing progress. 10/10!

I think there is some calibration of the pricing for upgrades and challenge difficulty. It's just a gut feeling from someone who has played TONS of cookie clicker and adventure capitalist/communist. There's a rhythm and music to the pattern of the price to buy the next thing. This feels close, but not perfectly optimized (there's got to be a formula out there for this).

Also, I really hope there is some sort of prestige ability added later in the game (similar to the other clicker games). That would make the game SO COOL! (it could be something like in a world where we are on a ship mining things in a low-tech way, there's a high-tech time portal in the capitol from the king, and if we want to be king of the world, we need to go back. Maybe we could become the king or master of the universe or something. Total genre expansion with the prestige ability. Just my thoughts!

You built something AMAZING here. I'll play every major update. finished the demo in one evening.

Fantastic game, love the mix of town builder and both active and passive resource gathering, and the various artifact powerups each prestige make for great bonuses. I do wish there was a way to just click to place buildings instead of click-and-hold, but otherwise this game immediately made it on my steam wishlist

Thank you! It means a lot

(+2)

Absolutely love it! Scratches an itch I feel like I've always had. Looking forward to the full game! I need more challenges to play haha

(+1)

Thank you! <3 We've just released a new demo version on Steam if you'd like to give it a spin (although it doesn't have any new challenges).

It was somehow possible to bug out so I cannot send more shipments. The shipment overlay does cannot be opened anymore. I don’t know what i did, probably something with build mode as i was building houses

(+1)

Hi, thanks for the report. Will look into that!

(+2)

Very nice and open for a demo. Very fun spin on clicker game mechanics. Well done 👍

(+1)

Thank you!

(+2)

Amazing! Can't wait for the full release! Thanks for all your time and effort, you can really tell.

Thanks <3

(+1)

What resources do I need to build the market? I can't tell what the little icon is?

Hi, for that you need rope, plank and stone

(+2)

very cool game. congrats on the art direction and overall game feel.
wishlisted!

Thank you!

(+5)

Like this comment if you too can't wait for the full release..!

(+1)(-1)

🙋 ngl though I am losing hope

(+1)

Still working on it every single day! 😄 Sorry for the delay, guys, and thanks so much for hanging in there with us. Hope you will like the full version

(+2)

The game is absoulutely amazing, but my save gets erased sometimes and you probably shouldn't allow workers to travel through the fog to get to a resource. Great game!

(+1)

Also you spelt Fisherman's hut wrong in the description

(+1)

Love it. I played before and after the 1.0.5 update, the new changes really polish the quality of life in this game!

The only other polish I want to see is the textbox popup every time i collect a new fossil go away. They stack on each other and it gets messy

(+2)

still as awsome as i remember but better

one problem though, my entire save got wiped after 1.0

(+2)

I love this game. It's like an "extraction game" (kinda) but in a roguelike colony builder way. Wishlisted, and looking forward to seeing what else will be in the final version. Also a great use of these art assets! With the CRT shader on top it has a really nice vibe.

Played this not too long ago to EOC, glad to see there's been a big update.

One issue I've encountered though is that a few of my workers just stopped? Like they wouldn't move when assigned, and one of them was at a structure 'working' but not moving. I haven't been able to replicate it yet but there were three of them stuck like that on a single map.

I can't appear to trigger the map size 2, Idk why. Ah you have to unlock more of the other unlocks before you can click new map size.

Yes, you need to spend some reputation in the earlier map size tier to unlock the next one. We’ll add some kind of counter to make it clearer and more user-friendly.
Thanks

(+2)

As it turns out, this game is really good. Addictive and very polished :]

(+1)

Thank you, and congratzz on finishing the Challenges :D!

wanted to complete the demo but after 2 sessions and saving both times it never saved. What I did play tho was very fun and i'm looking forward to the full release.

Thank you!
The only thing I can think of that might cause this is some kind of a browser permission issue, or have you been playing the executable version on Steam?

Nah I was playing in browser at work so that might have been it lol. regardless I have the game wish-listed looking forward to pouring some hours into the full game :)

(+2)

I like the gameplay loop!

The island reset process has some areas that could benefit from QoL to make each reset smoother. You may want to add an option to remove the cutscene from upgrading the island/colony after the first time watching the cutscene. Click to buy/upgrade may help reduce the tedium of setting up a new island.

Currently, the amount of progress made between each reset is quite satisfying. I am looking forward to the full release!

Thanks Mate! True, true, looking into it right now

This scratches a fun itch.  It's like Anno + Clicker and it's very fun.  Really looking forward to the full release.

(PS please add an Idle Unit counter to the UI somewhere)

Thanks Mate!

We've got a counter in the UI for that. 12/12 (1) indicates that you have one idling unit.

However I am pretty sure that it's hard to notice - we will have to tweak the UI a bit to make it more pop

Thanks again

(+2)

Wow what a demo, I had to pull myself away from it so I can save it for the steam release. Very much looking forward to this. Well done!

Thank you

(+2)

I absolutely love the demo so I'm trying to do everything that's currently possible in it, while waiting for the full release.

But something has me stumped, how is it possible to obtain the "X Gold without a ship" challenge? Maybe with the market building? But how do I get there without sending a single ship for the islands stages...

(+1)

Thanks Mate!

You can do that with the help of Lazy Coin Jar and/or Treasure Map artefacts :-)

Lazy coin jar - Each of your unemployed units generates 10 gold every 10 seconds, multiplied by unit strength
Treasure Map - Every 2 minutes, spawns a random treasure chest along the coast

(+1)

Ohh didn't think about the chance of artifacts. I guess I still need to find those two.
Thanks for the tip, back to more grinding

(+3)

I found this game on here a couple of days ago, and IMMEDIATELY knew I needed the full version. Easiest wishlist of my life - I'm playing the demo now and I desperately need the full game. Absolutely stellar, looking forward to the full release!

Thank you <3!

(+1)

God damn it, already hit the limit of the demo once again -.-
Now gotta wait for the full release :-/

(+1)

by the way, any chance we can make the towers deletable too?

I know it's probably to stop people from mass farming reputaton by building and deleting them but soemtimes towwers can get kind of in the way when you dont know yet how the full map looks like and have to place them 3 tiles range at a time anyways.

so wouldbe nice, ince one has a grasp of the full map, to be able to fully replan the buidings and all, including towers.

but that is only a minor thing, no big deal.

(+1)

Thanks for the feedback :)!
It's kind of hard to implement it  in at way that would prevent people from farming reputation as you mentioned. However we are gonna think about some solution
Thanks again :D

(+1)

not sure how you are curently making the whole "when tower is plante,d make all previous unlighted tiles in range lit and give 1 reputation for each newly lit tile.
maybe you can reverse it somehow to unlit the corresponding tiles and deduct reputation accordingly?

or other idea, IF you can count the tiles that are lit on the current map (which I know you definitely can since one achievements is literally lighting 450 tiles on a map) give the option to remove all towers at once, kind of like a reset button.
make all tiles, except the once that are usually lit by the start buildings, unlit.deduct reputaiton equal to the amount of tiles that were tower lit before the mass deletion.
oh and obviously make it like before areas were explored, so no trees, bushs, buildings in "dark areas" can be used until they are broguht into the ligth again.

soemthing like that.
so that once you have basiclaly explored the map, you can wipe out all towers (and other stuff if you want, mabe add a mass deletion button for that too while youa re at it. but give a "do you really wanna do that?" warning for both).
and jsut build stuff anew, into the perfect placement and positions, now that you know the full terrain and everything.

obviously would be a thing one only does if one really messed up  the tower placement or simpy wants to optimises tuff for acheivement reasons , like having maximum of tree based barrel buildings or such.

(+1)

Great game, can't wait for the full release, see what the rest of the island upgrades have in store. I've sunk hours into it.

There is one absolutely meaningless thing that mildly bothers me. For most upgrades, building etc you have to click and hold. But for upgrading the island you only have to click once. It feels incongruous.

Thats a valid point, true. Thanks mate!

(+3)

I love this mixing of genres (factory, Incremental, idle, civ sim). I played only a little bit because I'm worried I'll get too sucked in just for the demo. I want to wait for the final release until I really get into this game. Definitely wish listing this game.

Since this is still in development, I have a Qol improvement. I suggest the ability to hide any building specific tabs by clicking on the surrounding landscape instead of the building. For example, when clicking on the warehouse I would like to click anywhere in the game environment to close the tab besides the warehouse again. But this might be an idiocentric viewpoint. I really like when games allow maximum viewports. Which leads into my next suggestion, the ability to hide any window or tab. Just like how the Challenges board is hideable, it would be nice to hide the other UI elements and just watch the villagers do their work.

Incredible demo, can't wait for the full game!

Really appreciate the solid feedback and your support. Thank you

(+2)

keyboard shortcuts, if not existent yet, would be nice too.

basically one for the boat would be nice cause so much time is spent with it.

you can of course click on the top right banner.

but one might as well just also press space bar to open it, send the good, press spacebar again to close it.

you know, so you dont gotta look for the boat icon eahc time tos ell stuff whcih disrupts the flow a bit.

I would really like to buy your game, but is it available in French? If not, do you know when it will be?

(+2)

chill and fun game

Thank you!

Really amazing game. Wishlisted on Steam. One Question: How did you handle the GPU Particles in the game without the game lagging?
Just somehow pre-loading while the game is still starting?

Thanks for the kind words and your support.
To be honest we don't do anything special with the particles. We just have the default godot shader pre-bake active (we are on 4.5)

Hello! I absolutely love the art in the game and I was curious what resolution you used for making the sprites

Hi, most of the sprites are in 16x16px format (artefacts are in 24x24 resolution).
We also apply 4x scaling ingame.

Thanks for the kind words!

Hi
Do you plan to published it elsewhere than Steam like Gog?

(+1)

Hi, we’re not sure yet if the game will be released outside of Steam. I’ll look into it and see what we can figure out.

(2 edits)

I have trouble with saving in the browser and on the Windows version played on Porting Kit on MacOS.

I can start a game and play for awhile, but if I exit in any way, it always starts over launching the beginning of the tutorial. In other words, I lose all progress I make -- no progress saves once I exit the game.

I first played normally in the browser and discovered the problem, then tried again in the browser after turning off all privacy etc protections in case that was the problem (not needed on other Itch.io games, but I thought it was worth trying); same problem. Finally, I went through the hassle of installing the Windows version and getting it to run on MacOS via porting kit.

In all cases, the game essentially resets to zero whenever I exit and restart the game. Very frustrating, especially after my first play of a couple of hours...

Having said that -- the game itself is super fun! I hope you iron out the bugs and get it working (natively on MacOS eventually?? or a paid full browser version that saves?)

Hi, first of all, thank you for playing the game and for your kind words. We really appreciate it! We’re currently working on adding more content and fixing as many bugs as we can.

Regarding the saving issue: during your gameplay, did you reset the island by clicking the “Set sail for a new island” button in the top-left corner? The game only saves progress when you enter and exit the meta screen. In other words, the current island itself is not saved, only the meta progress (such as your skill tree and unlocked fossils).

If you did reset the island and your progress was still lost, then this is indeed a bug on our side and something we’ll need to investigate and fix.

Once again, thank you for reaching out and for playing the game!

Thanks for the response. Yes, I set sail for a new island at least once, and it did not save that unfortunately. I accidentally browed away from itch in my browser in that case, then discovered the game had effectively reset. Then I tried again several times with progressively shorter game sessions to try to diagnose it on my end (was it my browser settings? or maybe the Windows app worked?).

I had no idea that the game did not save until you left an island, though, so much of my testing was bound to fail -- after losing a lot of progress a couple of times, I was just testing very short plays to try to figure it out, without success.

It would be great to be able to save any amount of progress (not just post-sailing), or have an import/export save file at a minimum (even if it's just the local save data) so the the user can save as often as they want and recover progress in case saving errors in the game.

Great addicting game! Wishlisted, and I will likely buy it when it's released. As a Godot developer myself, it's always exciting to discover games made in the Godot Engine!

May I suggest one QoL addition? It would be great to have a "Send all" button in the ship interface, that would fill up the ship in one click. No big deal, but that would be a great feature I think.

Thank you! Noted, and I appreciate the suggestion

Cheers!

(+1)

This game is so addicting, I'm disappointed it isn't out yet. Added to my wishlist, and I can't wait to see what's next!

One QOL thing that would be nice is a better to see how much of a certain item you have. Especially in the early game I'd like to know if I need to click to get wood or if it makes sense to start making logs (planks?), and the scrolling is kind of a pain.

Thanks for your support!
Noted, we have some tasks regarding the overhaul of the UI in the backlog, so we will try to figure out a better solution for this

(1 edit) (+1)

If you queue up a lot of units, it pushes the unit bottom buttons off the screen and pushes the progress bar up under the resources:

(+1)

Possible bug/unintended interactions: if you crush the fossils and don't like what you got, if you close the game and re-open the game, you can crush them again and it doesn't seem to be pre-determined what you get.

Loving the game!  Will be insta-buying on release!

Thanks for your support and for the bug reports. Appreciate it!

thansk for the info, that exploit should have been so obvious to me O_o

(+1)

you know that farms and fields dont need road connection, right?
so you can surround a farm with fields full circle.

and people can be sent to the fields just like with trees, no rod connection needed.

but it obviously looks better thoguh with roads, jsut ressource effectiveness aint that high then

(+1)

I did NOT know that.  👀

well, now you know! :-)
but when you hover over items before clicking to choose them, the tooltips also states "needs road conenction" if it is soemthign that needs it.
basically any actual hosue like building that uses workers, like hosues themselves, woodmill, barrel place, and such need road connection.Famr doesnt need any tenting, so no worker and therefor road connection needed.and fields are seen by the game the same as berry bushses and such. objects that they can jsut walk to over the terrain, no road needed.

otherwise, you would kind of have to encircle your grop fields with a circle of road pieces.or, as you did, only half fill them.

(+1)

too bad village 2 is only the highest rank one can achieve :-(

Totally would have grinded my way up to the empire :-)

Looking  forward to the full game!

(+1)(-1)

But PLEASE for the love of -he who doesnt exist- imp, ement some destro feature!
so we can destroy buildings and stuff even if it doesnt give us any ressources back!

cause right now very often i happen to place buildings roads and stuff on the edge of where I can see. and upon uncoverign more, turns out that blocked thee only path where I could have built a road to certain ressources.
Once the literal watch tower that uncovered the next few tiles was the reason why I couldnt attach a pond to the village cause it just happned to land on the ponly path between other ressource fields -.-

so yeah, please make it so we can delete roads and buildings :-)

Thank you!

I’m not sure which version you’re currently using, but in version 0.5.3 we added the ability to demolish buildings and roads.

You can find a more detailed explanation here (the in-game tutorial hasn’t been updated yet to fully explain this feature).

https://karrot-fang.itch.io/clicky-islands/devlog/1145551/053-patch

Cheers and thanks for playing!

(1 edit)

no clue, been playing it for  few days, so itprobably was an earlier  version I downloaded there.
Edit: going by hotfixes it's probably the 0.5.1 version or earlier.definitely have to click ressources in batches to get it on the ship

(+2)

Completed the entire game cant wait till the next expansion

(btw merry christmas fellow game dev :3)

Glad you enjoyed it :-)Merry christmas!

1 issue was that there is a really small hitbox for the tier 3 map upgrade so i was stuck for some hours

btw will the full game be free?

Sorry for the late response, the full game won't be free.

Will look into the small hitbox issue, thanks!

ok ty

(+2)

Very fun game!!! =)

Thanks!

fun game  :)

Thank you :)

This game is a demo, I want to buy the full version because it is a good game, but where is the "BUY" button on Steam? Releasing a demo for something that cannot be bought feels like fraud indeed. I think everything demo related should be pulled off of the Internet until there is an actual product to BUY.

(+4)

How is realeasing a demo "fraud"?
As you said yourself there is nothing you can buy, so what is being misrepresented or what are you being cheated of?
Releasing demos before a product is released is in fact very common and usually done to gather interest for said product.

(+2)

Demo means test version

(1 edit) (+3)

Releasing  a demo for a game that is still in development is totally normal. Wishlisting games on steam is a huge help to developers, and letting people try the game before they buy it is a consumer friendly way to encourage people to do that.

(+1)

Nothing fraud about releasing a demo before the final product.

If I might suggest... here's some gaming topics which are much closer to (if not actually) fraud which your anger would be better suited towards:
(In no particular order)

  • Paid Alphas/Betas/Kickstarters which never get released.
  • Gambling with tokens/gems/etc bought with real money.
    • Especially when it's aimed at children or gambling addicts.
  • Forced online connectivity for single player games.
  • Games with Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency.
  • Games with Gen AI.
  • Kickstarters which have a reward to "let you help develop the game"
  • Games which you own, but can't play because the publisher/devs pulled support.
  • Games which you'd like to own, but can't legally buy because the company which holds the copyright for the next 75+ years won't sell you a copy.
  • Games with Day-1 DLC or patches.
    • Especially games with Pre-Day-1 DLC.
  • Game reviews/reviewers which:
    • Do not disclose that they got a game for free.
    • or, Do not disclose that they received other compensation related to the review (ex: All expense paid trips, catering, special early access, in person meeting with the devs, etc)
  • Game Companies which put devs through crunch.
  • Game Companies which fire entire teams after record sales.
    • or, after just buying the teams.
  • Game Companies when they sell you stripped content as DLC.
  • Game Companies which sell you an old game for substantially more than the original cost.
  • Games that you pay full price for, but you only get a ~License~* to play.
  • etc etc...
    • I've got to stop here, or I could be at this all day.

* There's ALWAYS "fun" asterisks and restrictions with ~Licenses~, like when and where you can download the game, what device you can play it on, etc etc.

(+2)

Love this game!! From the graphics to the animation to the sound design :) Can't wait for the full release! Tysm for listening to all the others' suggestions!

Thank you for your support!
