Italy has suspended the automatic renewal of its defence memorandum with Israel, Prime Minister Meloni announced at Vinitaly on 14 April, one day after it had quietly renewed itself.

    Just another cowardly political landmine-setting exercise.

    She expects her party will be out of power before the 5 year period of the defence agreement is up - therefore can say she’s cancelled the renewal, and blame the next government if they decide to renew it.

    Even though all she really accomplished was renewing the ageement again for the next 5 years.
