I do have a mean running stitch. 🪡 Damn disinformation is difficult to pin, though.

3·27 days agoI took an into to CS class (basically just Turbo Pascal [yes I am old]) being taught for the first time by a math prof. The only things he could come up for us to program were complex, advanced math problems. We couldn’t understand the problems, let alone figure out how to program a solution. So many people failed that class…

I stare into the void, as all things are destined for nothingness.
Well, really we are just elaborate meat tubes, the primary function of which is to put stuff in one end so it can come out the other. It’s gross.

4·3 months agoFrequency response is the really the most meaningful tech spec. The larger the range, the more sounds the phones can reproduce on the low and high end. However, that does become less meaningful when listening to heavily compressed and processed sources. Also, I would guess that all the options you are considering have the same frequency response, so might not really be a consideration.
Bluetooth version is the next consideration. You want the newest version available, or at least no older than the version your source device runs. The higher versions provide more bandwidth, so theoretically less compression during transmission. It seems common to use older chips in more budget friendly headphones in order to save cost. The average user probably doesn’t care, but if you are concerned about sound quality, it can be a factor.
Honestly, your source material is probably more of a hindrance to quality than your equipment. Compression is the enemy. Unless you are going to get into lossless codecs and/or analog sources, you won’t be pushing the limits of the headphones you are considering. This is not to say you shouldn’t get a nice pair, more just a fair warning that you’re not gonna get a major quality boost from just changing your headphones.

mantra@lemmy.ziptoAskLemmy@lemmings.world•How important is chemistry/attraction? Can it develop over time?
5·5 months agoProceed with caution, but give yourself some time. Six months out from a serious relationship is not that long. It is inevitable that you are still doing comparisons and the like. You need some time for your new partner to settle into your life a bit. That being said, attractiveness fades, so if you want to spend forever with this one, you better make sure you got more than just a physical attraction going on. Also it doesn’t have to be the forever one, you can have some a fun and fulfilling time with someone without committing to forever. Don’t worry so much about some planner future and just enjoy spending time with her. That might settle your worries naturally. Good luck!

Yeah, don’t listen to those people. Polarized sunnies are awesome no matter what you’re getting up to. They aren’t playing tricks with the light, they are filters, plain and simple. Looking up how they work would be better than any explanation I can conjure up, if you’re curious about the science. The aren’t a safety issue, though. I have been wearing them for decades and put miles and miles on my bikes, both commuting and doing things like adventure races. Happy cycling!
