  • I think their argument might make more sense for something like Julia that’s actually closer to feature-parity with Python. Python created a common language where developers, scientists, and tinkerers used the same tool. If AI coding holds, maybe we’ll see those communities split off again to different typed languages.

  • There’s a plaque somewhere in Dublin that said “Blah blah blah lived here; scientist, engineer, financier, manager…” For like 20 professions. As it happens, their son became a famous poet, can’t remember the name right now, and he made his own plaque right below it, which said “Blah blah blah Jr lived here; author, poet, wit.”

I couldn’t help but feel that one of them was dramatically more successful than the other.

  • Unironically, I think this is what did her in. Not the line itself, but the fact that the DOW went back below 50k soon after. He doesn’t really have much reason to fire her. I mean, she’s an idiot and evil, but so is he, and that’s kinda exactly the kind of person Trump wants on his team. Everyone Trump fires seems to make the following mistakes:

    1. They take too much spotlight from him
    2. They get caught making a quote that goes viral
    3. They get unlucky with their news presence for several weeks in a row

They never do something so bad that it can’t be recovered from, Trump’s certainly had worse moments in the news, but if you stay down for long enough, you’ll get the chopping block. Ultimately, it’s just kinda random bad luck that decides who stays and goes.

  • This was literally the plot of a family guy episode. He fought super hard to make sure immigrants wouldn’t have jobs, and then found out he was born in Mexico. Then realized that immigrants wanting good jobs is like the most american and patriotic thing there is. It was on TV last night.
