Descending from the heavens on July 7th, 2026 - ‘Deep Time’ marks the inaugural release from Uriel. Digital and physical copies available for pre-order now.
This year marks seventeen years of production for Oakland born, Los Angeles-based DJ & producer Linda Lo, a practice born from a desire to synthesize the fragmented patterns of human experience into a tangible soundscape; a rooted subconscious memory.
Pulling from a connective reverence for bass music, Lo recontextualizes the foundational principals of low end into a crystalized chandelier, where familiar reference points may glint briefly, but quickly fade into an immersive landscape that commands deep listening. Her approach to production is shaped by a fusion of traditional dance music’s melodic sensibilities and a deep admiration for Croydon’s early proto-dubstep scene. The result is in an enlightening reconstitution of sub-bass frequencies, two-step shuffle, and elusive sampling techniques.
Uriel's inaugural release, 'Deep Time' is a departure from Lo's previous works. The record is woven with an inherent vulnerability - steeped in the mnemonic tide pools of her lived experience. While writing the record, Lo was simultaneously deepening her spiritual practice of ancestral veneration by keeping an active altar in her home, honoring her familial lineage, and celebrating the roots of her upbringing through active prayer and daily meditation. ‘Deep Time’ as a complete work, is a meditation itself on the concept of speaking through time.
The opening track, ‘Mourning Xun’ samples the Chinese earthenware instrument, the xun, traditionally used in a theatrical context as a symbol of loss and longing. The nine minute sub-bass devotional marks the start of the record with a grounded reverence for the past.
‘卻 (Yet)’ balances the duality of bliss and pain. Like a subterranean mineral deposit, the track carries the unbreakable weight of Lo’s signature basslines, while delicate, glittering strings introduce a sense of levity - or perhaps the ache of an unwanted farewell.
The record’s closer, ‘Time Capsule’ arrives as a soaring, euphoric release: a timeless dance floor high that cuts between lush ambient passages, breath-held silence, waning arpeggiated synth pads, and terrazzo breaks.
‘Deep Time’ lives as an offering to the vulnerable mystery of what we remember, what we hold close, and what we must say goodbye to.
To have a dream is to be alone.
