VinePair | Rheinhessen Is Leading the German Wine Revolution. Here are 5 Producers to Know.
If I remembered anything about Rheinhessen, the largest wine region in Germany, from my WSET Level 3 textbook, it was that there wasn’t much to remember. With the exception of several renowned producers like Klaus Peter Keller, it was vast and flat, its output forgettable. But then, in early 2025, I started seeing its name again and again in the newsletter I receive from Leon & Son in Brooklyn, one of the most forward-looking wine shops in the country. It appeared next to words like “Next-Gen” and “guts” and “in the face of tradition.” What was happening in Rheinhessen?

Only a small sliver of the students who attend the University of Austin (henceforth UATX) already care about writing. VinePair | Rescued From War, Artwine Tells a Complicated Story of Ukrainian Wine
The video opens with men in paramilitary uniforms, their faces covered, striding through unlit gray caverns filled with endless pallets of bottles. One shines his flashlight on a “passport” establishing the authenticity of the product. “Cuvée champenoise,” it says. 2019. Gradually, the setting reveals itself as something other than a warehouse that’s lost power — the uneven walls and ceilings look like they were hewn out of rock, and the halls seem endless. At one point, the cameraman marvels at a sign that refers to the presence of 171 pallets of 500 bottles apiece.
