NĂ©stor Arob investigates human rights and social justice issues across Latin America, specializing in data-driven reporting and digital storytelling. His investigation "Yarumal, la memoria que el rĂo se llevĂł" documented the aftermath of Colombia's 2008 NechĂ river avalanche, earning recognition from the CĂrculo de Periodistas de BogotĂĄ. Through this work, he established methodologies for tracking long-term community impacts of natural disasters in rural Colombian regions. As a participant in the OCX Project, Arob develops frameworks for investigating cross-border issues between the United States and Mexico using artificial intelligence tools. His contributions to the project focus on ethical applications of AI in journalism, particularly for complex investigations spanning multiple jurisdictions. The initiative combines traditional reporting methods with emerging technologies to enhance coverage of migration patterns and border communities. Through the Internet Society Colombia Chapter, Arob publishes analysis on Net Neutrality policy and digital rights in Latin America. His research examines how technology access shapes information flow and journalistic practice in the region. This work bridges investigative reporting, data journalism, and digital rights advocacy across the Americas.
