AAPI Heritage and Pride Month intersect with QTAPI Week
AAPI Heritage and Pride Month intersect with QTAPI Week
As AAPI Heritage Month wraps up and Pride Month begins, this week is an intersection of the two. It is known as Queer and Transgender Asian Pacific Islander Week, or QTAPI Week. In 2021, San Francisco became the first city in the country to officially celebrate the week with a resolution passed by city supervisors. It designates the week as a time of celebration and recognition. KTVU's Claudine Wong is joined by Nguyen Pham, President of San Francisco Pride for more on what the week means to both the queer and AAPI communities.

Happy QTAPI Week (5/25-6/2)! I’m starting the week off with a Meet & Greet w/ Alan Wong, President of the City College Board and straight ally who recently won the endorsement of the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club! Alan Wong is a public servant, union organizer, veteran, and a living testament to the success of City College. As a City Hall Education Policy Advisor, he has fought for equitable, affordable, and accessible public education. For decades, City College has played a critical role in his life and the success of his entire family. Now, Alan wants to pay back the educational institution that has given him so much. He is running for City College Board because he believes in a College that provides opportunities for working and immigrant families like his own. I am encouraging my friends to join me for an easy breezy meet & greet with Alan at Casements Bar Patio! Come early for the curry fries! :)

It’s Memorial Day and the 4th Annual QTAPI Week! Queer and Transgender Asians and Pacific Islanders (QTAPIs) have always incorporated music and singing as part of their gatherings. Music inspires. Music uplifts. Music heals! Hosted by Jason Murata (Axinn) and Juicy Liu (aka Michael Nguyen, QTAPI Coalition Founder), we will have FREE Karaoke from 7-10pm, generously sponsored by Axinn. After 10pm, songs will be $2 a song. 👩🏻💼👨🏻⚖️⚖️ This event centers Queer and Transgender Asian and Pacific Islander (QTAPI) lawyers and legal professionals, but allies are welcome! 🎶 Sing your heart out, make new connections, and let’s make this night memorable!
