Melbourne/Naarm’s The Mean Times dropped their debut album Feel More Dumb in Sept 2025 via Golden Robot Records. Produced by Anna Laverty (Camp Cope, Peep Tempel, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), it’s their most chaotic, honest, and gloriously unhinged work—part panic attack, part party anthem, with scuzzy riffs, sharp hooks, and more lyrical side-eye than a taxidermist at a petting zoo. Formed so long ago they can’t recall when, The Mean Times have played nearly every sticky carpet in Victoria. From their synthy debut You’ve Got the Wrong Guys to the garage-pop of Raw Prawn and Stunned Mullet, they’ve fused swagger, self-deprecation, and big choruses with themes of mid-life dread, dumb decisions, and joy before collapse. New singles “Already Done” and “Hell” preview the chaos—think The Vines on decaf or Arctic Monkeys blackmailed by their conscience. It’s weird but catchy, punk but pop, polished but raw. No redemption arcs—just loud, literate, swaggering fun.

Miss Damascus 2008 (Radio Edit), by The Mean Times
The Mean Times blend garage-pop grit with post-punk energy, swagger, and self-deprecating humour. Their sound crashes sharp hooks, scuzzy riffs and earworm choruses into themes of mid-life dread, bad decisions and chaotic joy. Think The Saints meet Blur in a dive bar brawl—loud, catchy, unhinged, and weirdly danceable.
