Most AI launches are aimed at everyone. Jev isn’t. It’s built for developers and companies whose software makes thousands of small decisions a day, and it makes each one hundreds of times cheaper and faster than an LLM would. Since launch, builders have used it for everything from ad blockers to self-driving simulations. I’ve collected the most interesting examples and grouped them into 10 categories.
Jev is made by TypeSafe AI, founded by Diogo Almeida with Erik Gafni and Sasha Sheng. Almeida previously worked at OpenAI on RLHF and InstructGPT, the research behind how ChatGPT learned to follow instructions. TypeSafe launched Jev on 15 September 2026 after about two years of quiet development, alongside a $40M seed round led by DCVC.
The name nods to economist William Stanley Jevons, who noticed that when something gets cheaper, people use far more of it. TypeSafe calls Jev a System One model, after Daniel Kahneman’s idea of fast, intuitive thinking.
