FPMV Raycast - First Person MV
A downloadable tool for Windows
This is a First Person MV Raycast plugin.
While there currently exists some fantastic 3D plugins, I wanted to create something that put more emphasis and control into the First Person side of things. I wanted to create a purpose-made First Person plugin that could be used for a variety of different gameplay styles.
Development is still ongoing, as I don't wish to release an entirely buggy mess of a plugin. Some performance issues were crushed, but there may be some things that snuck past me.
Once the primary FPMV Core Plugin is complete, I'll have an alternative download for it for a much lower price free. However, the alternative download will only be meant for the core plugin, itself, and NOT the extra plugins/addons that will accompany the core FPMV Raycast system.
Update: I've been planning out how I wanted to work these tools out, but I believe it's probably going to be better for everyone if I can provide a free-to-use option of the FPMV Raycast Core plugin so that it's easier for developers who are on the fence to get a feel for how the main plugin will work. With that said, the Raycast Core plugin will be completely free, and all add-on plugins will be available for purchase should you decide you want to expand on the toolset.
As development continues, I will release various playable Demo's for people to try out.
=======================================================
What the FPMV Raycast Core plugin will feature:
- Baseline First Person camera control (you can choose which maps will be 3D)
- 3D Walls and Floors with Ramps
- Door placements and general script-created shapes for tables, chairs, etc.,
- Sprinting and Dashing features
- Footstep sound control (including sprint alteration of footstep sounds)
- Dynamic lighting with flashlight use and developer controls and syncing
- Dynamic audio with range adjustment
- Plugin owned keybind mapping
- GPU Rendering Support (to take most of the load off the CPU for smoother gameplay)
=======================================================
What future add-ons to the Core Plugin will encompass:
AI Core - A smarter NPC system. This will be the basis for additional NPC systems.
Horror AI - A system for NPC's to behave properly in accordance with most horror game setups. NPC's assigned with a Horror tag can chase players, and patrol to different locations (defined by the developer and chosen at random) on the map for better NPC coverage of the map.
Tactical AI - A system for NPC's to behave in a tactical manner. This will primarily be meant for the First Person Shooter script that will be accompanying this script. Tactical NPC's will maintain distance if they have ranged weapons, and will seek cover to heal when injured.
Combat Core - This will be the core script for First Person Combat. This particular script will focus on melee and medieval style combat systems, but will be the groundwork for additional combat system, such as the First Person Shooter plugin.
First Person Shooter - As the name implies, this plugin will create a system for First Person Shooting. Think of this as being similar to old-school Doom or Wolfenstein 3D. I aim to give as much control as possible to allow for the most creativity from developers.
True Jump - The Raycast core plugin has a 'false jump' where the camera view appears to jump, but actual player movement doesn't. This was made this way to simplify functionality. True Jump will allow players to actually have a true, physical jump.
Static Mesh - This will allow for developers to upload their own 3D models (glb/gltf format) into the map. This will strictly be for static mesh objects, however.
Additionally, this plugin will have an integrated system to allow players to "hide" inside objects.
Rigged Mesh - This will allow for developers to upload their own Rigged 3D models. Ideally, this will allow for fully rigged and animated models to function within the 3D space. This may also allow for players to "hide" or "sit" within objects, but this is still in the planning phase.
Multiplayer - I aim to create a multiplayer plugin that's functional with all of the above scripts. This is likely to be the last script created, due to this goal.
And more... - I want to create as many options as possible to use with my FPMV Raycast core. I feel this is an excellent opportunity to open up an entirely new method for developers to create the game they want.
=======================================================
Rules for use:
If you purchase any of my plugins, feel free to use them for whatever game you want. Doesn't matter if it's used for an Adult Game, PG Game, whatever. You bought it, you own it.
However, you are NOT allowed to give the plugins away to anyone.
For the FPMV Raycast core plugin, feel free to share once it's available. Credit is appreciated, but not required.
You are also welcome to create your own <anything> to use with my scripts, whether it's additional plugins/addons, sprite sheets to better suit the 3D Aspect, or whatever.
=======================================================
Disclaimers:
If you have questions about making an existing script compatible, I'm not exactly sure how other developers would feel about it, so I would probably need those developers to contact me directly so that we can figure something out.
I also do not have a time frame for when any of the scripts will be completed, as it will primarily depend on my RL situation. That being said, I can confidently say that the FPMV Raycast Core, AI Core, and Horror AI scripts are fairly close to completion.
The majority of setup is handled via Comment Tags (especially for event setup). I try to stay away from using direct Script... commands or anything else that might complicate things.
