Historias Mal Contadas

Historias Mal Contadas

Diverging from their sentimental Valentine’s Day offering, ONLY ENAMORADOS, Marca MP’s second project of 2025 reacclimatises them with the rugged corridos side of their craft. Beginning with “Mato”, its sturdy, hyper-masculine narrative marked by the protagonist’s decidedly quiet endurance, songwriter Chato leads the group through nearly a dozen reliably robust cuts. Despite the self-deprecating tenor of its title, Historias Mal Contadas carries on with such fan-friendly fare as “Cochinero”, “En Mazatlán” and the brassy “Ando Recio”. Of course, they haven’t abandoned the profoundly heartfelt style here altogether, with the singer earnestly wishing into the bottom of a whisky bottle on the pleading “Sin Mí”. Though most of this deliberately concise album focuses on the core group and its collective strengths, collaborations with emmamnuel cortes and Edgardo Nuñez on the romantic “Desde Que La Ví” and the embittered “HDTPM”, respectively, offer them even more space to create and explore.
